Better Cocktail Lounges

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

I was alone On the road
In a city in a foreign country with no one to hold
I was lonely Really sad
It was seven years since my marriage had ended so bad
I checked in at the front desk and I carried my own bags up to the room
(It was ) just another business trip and I’m gettin bored and feeling the gloom deep inside

Most of the better cocktail lounges are located in the major hotels

I’d had enuff Of tv
And talking about business endlessly
There was something Missing here
I needed some inspiration or maybe just a beer
I went down to the lobby and the night concierge gave me a smile
I asked her if she could recommend a piano bar where I could hang for a while, and she said

Most of the better cocktail lounges are located in the major hotels Major hotels

There I was At the bar
Feeling pretty much the same as I did before
And the singer At the keys
Was crooning about how love had brought him to his knees
Then I saw this pretty lady nursing a drink and watching the game
The conversation got to flowin easy, she gave me a light, I gave her my name & I said

Most of the better cocktail lounges are located in the major hotels
Major hotels

You Gotta Be Out of Your Mind

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

Hey, my friend, I can see thru your lies
Even tho I’ve been blind
You have treated me like a fool
Then expected me never to mind
I played your game and almost lost
My sense of wrong from right

You gotta be out of your mind if you think you’re going to do that to me
You got to be out of your mind

I have lived under your set of rules
The strangest time I’ve known
You cut your life into separate worlds
That I was not to be shown
I’ve been burned by trusting you
I’m not hanging round for more

You gotta be out of your mind if you think you’re going to do that to me
You got to be out of your mind

I gave you everything in good faith
I’ll take your betrayal in stride
I need you now just to stay away
I don’t want our lives any more entwined
As shadows deepen around your eyes
I see a jaded mind

You gotta be out of your mind if you think you’re going to do that to me
You got to be out of your mind

Dirtbag Dorks at the Fresh Kills Landfill

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

You, recall, those friends of mine
Rob, & Murph, from junior high
They’re still the same
There’s nothin they, won’t do
Nowhere they won’t go
Ooohhhhh no...

Dirtbag Dorks at the Fresh Kills Landfill
They’re ringin in trouble like a hammer & anvil
They shoulda stayed home back in friendly Manville
But noooooo...
They’re in the Fresh Kills Landfill

That, was their, idea of fun
To climb, around, in a world of junk
They hopped the fence
Right where it says, “off limits”
Now they’re in it
I’m tellin ya I begged em not to go...

Dirtbag Dorks at the Fresh Kills Landfill
They’re ringin in trouble like a hammer & anvil
They shoulda stayed home back in friendly Manville
But noooooo...
They’re in the Fresh Kills Landfill

There’s a bad thing rising
From a mountain of trash and it... ain’t... smiling!!!!!!

Dirtbag Dorks at the Fresh Kills Landfill
They’re ringin in trouble like a hammer & anvil
They shoulda stayed home back in friendly Manville
But noooooo...
They’re in the Fresh Kills Landfill

Run! Oh!! Aghghh!!!

Where are those dirtbag friends of mine?
And will they come back?
Back from that dark, huge, nasty...
Back from that landfill?

The Hanging Gardens Close at Dusk

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

Twilight falls, on a re-
sort town, waves smash against
rocks, tall trees thrash in the wind

I lead you, down a path
you, take me, up to a
mountain road, into the shade

And the hanging gardens close at dusk

God knows what, went on be-
tween us, words smouldered like
palm leaves, white hot in the sun

Your green eyes, see into
my gray heart, turning it
dark, red wine, spills on the sky

And the hanging gardens close at dusk

And the hanging gardens close at dusk

Rain drops still, simmering
heat, waves strong, cracking the
clouds, life stirs down by the sea

You, me, our, fever of
time, embrace, jungle of
hope, we fall under its hush

And the hanging gardens close at dusk

And the hanging gardens close at dusk

My Heart Is Open

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

I will give you all of me
And I ask you to hold me to that
So a vow has been taken
Where we say there is nothing held back

My heart is open now
My love unbroken
My heart is open now
No words are spoken

There is no separation
I do not really understand that
Want you sometimes and always
Turning off of the road I come back

My heart is open now
My love unbroken
My heart is open now
No words are spoken

Feeling the water and fire
I love you
Feeling these waves of desire
I love you

My heart is open now
My love unbroken
My heart is open now
No words are spoken

Feeling the water and fire
I love you

Til You See Stars

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

You
Have me believing in something so high
My Love
Feeling like heaven’s unfolding before my eyes
You have, touched me, I’m here, for you
And opened wide
Where I, take you, we will, break thru
To the Sun inside

Gonna kiss you ever so slowly
And love you, until you see stars
Until you see stars

You
Lead me from gray to the rainbow I need
To see
The beat from my heart is pounding and driving me
Life is, different, right now, we’re meant
To be one flesh
Giving, to you, living, thru you
Ever more enmeshed

Gonna kiss you ever so slowly
And love you, until you see stars
Until you see stars

Take me over, save me lover
Be my sky light, shine all thru my night
My house
My room
My heart

Gonna kiss you ever so slowly
And love you, until you see stars
Until you see stars

Until you see stars

Something to Do

Written By: Christopher Hoyle

Touching your hand is like being close to a burner
Every kiss I try to make the best I can give
Am I too high with you or too low without you?
Our time together is definitely a hit
You come on to me then you turn away
I stand there like a rock while inside I’m all over the place

[chorus]
Why did I let myself fall this hard for you?
I don’t know, hon
Something to do, I guess Something to do

Writing to you or dialing your number
The nature of time seems to change & stop my heart
I want to see you again across that table
Drinking a beer in that neighborhood restaurant
You ask me if I’d like to come up
I say sure but any words just don’t seem like enough

[chorus]

[bridge]
Taking you in my arms
So many things make perfect sense
Thanking you in my heart
You’re not all I live for but your love has sure made a great difference

The lake is calm and you can’t tell where the other side is
The opposite shore blends gradually into the trees
I guess it’s a trick of the sunset and the reflection
As I walk with you in this serenity
You turn away and then you hold me tighter
I’m getting used to how you flirt and make a heavy heart lighter

[chorus]
Why did I let myself fall this hard for you?
I don’t know, hon
Something to do, I guess Something to do
