“All I really want, is to be listenable and write songs that people enjoy” – Chris Matty

Passion and Enthusiasm make great music. When you write a great song, you touch people on so many levels. In a nutshell, this describes Chris Matty, a hard working, all around fun Songwriter, Producer, and Mix Engineer. With influences like Live, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, Skillet, Fireflight, and Daughtry, it’s not hard seeing why his music has a knack for being classified as melodic pop rock.

After a stint at Berklee College of Music, Chris pursued music regionally back in New Jersey, playing with various bands throughout the tri-state area and cutting his teeth in various New York City studios. After honing his engineering and production chops, this lead to better gigs, working with keyboardist David Rosenthal, (Billy Joel), and session drummer Jonathan Mover (Fuel, Joe Satriani) in their private recording studios. . Working on great projects like Billy Joel’s Movin Out on Broadway, and with artists such as progressive rock’s Happy the Man, Hard Rock’s Matt Kramer of Saigon Kick, and rap artist and Making the Band 2 star Jamie Drastik, showcase Chris’s versatility in working with a multitude of chart topping projects.

Chris recently just finished work on Kerri Edelman’s debut record “Leave it all Behind”, handling all the production and mixing, writing the music, and laying down all the guitar, bass, and keyboard tracks. Other projects include music with actor/vocalist Jeff Mosier for licensing and song placements and LA Based songwriter Brian Donovan. Chris is also a partner in the songwriting firm “It Factor Music”, with vocalist Erin Murphy, formally from the band Junipers Daughter in Boston, MA. Placements include the song “Trying To Hold On” in a reality Television show in Canada called “Chris and John to the Rescue”, and a few more in stand-by.

Music is personal. Check out the ballad ‘What If Tomorrow Never Came’. Chris wrote this song about his cousin Jill, who passed away at the age of 22 from cancer. It was an emotional rollercoaster. When Chris handed Jeff the music and lyrics, he immediately was able to latch onto the emotion, because his father had passed away in the same month as Jill, 2 years apart.

Chris owns his own 48 track Pro Tools studio, which can also accommodate Logic and Reason Files as well, enabling him to work in any capacity. Whether you need a producer or mix engineer for your next project, hit songwriting, guitar or bass session playing or beat creation, Chris can deliver what you need. He is always looking to work with new and established artists who want to raise the bar and rise to the top.
