Hooked

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

HOOKED

At the base of the rocky mountains
There are rivers and there are streams
See an old man cast a line in
To hook on to a dream

Oh the air is dry and cold
The clouds move in so low
It’s no place for a weak man
Pullin' dreams from meltin' snow

Let the rivers run
Let the wild beasts roam
Feel our forefathers drifting spirits
Floating gently through our home

May our children learn the lessons
This old pan can pass along
Let them grow with peace and wisdom
Leaving things where they belong

You may think this man is foolish
But through years his mind has grown
He's been given the gift of wisdom
By the elders from his home

He still walks the hills in silence
He moves without a trace
He's in tune with what's around him
Leaving everything in place

Chorus

At the base of the rocky mountains
Where the Icy waters flow
See an old man teaching a young boy
‘Bout the things he needs to know

And he tells him ‘bout the raven
Bringing light back to the land
And how he can be a good hunter
Living like the gods had planned

Chorus

Youre giving me a brain freeze

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

Written 31/03/08….Summer house verandah

When I met you baby
You were my lover, my perfect lady
It took me a while, I was fooled by your smile
You led me off like a lamb to the slaughter.

The future was lookin kinda rosy
We’d kiss and cuddle, feelin’ kinda cosy
Then I heard what you’d said, on the phone in our bed
How you were gonna leave and take all of my money

You’re nothing but a gold digger
You say the words a man can’t figure
Your promises are just a tease
You’re givin’ me a brain freeze (A Ab G)

Ice cream headache…
Got nothing on you
You wreck my mind with such ease
By givin me this, brain freeze.
Inst

I thought I knew you honey
But you played with my head just to get my money
Why you had me fooled ‘cause you over ruled
My plans to love you ‘til the forever after

I feel like runnin for cover
You’re just a tramp, and a second hand lover
It’s time to move on, time you were gone
You cut me up but now I’m glad you’re goin’

You’re nothing but a gold digger
You say the words a man can’t figure
Your promises are just a tease
You’re givin’ me a brain freeze

Ice cream headache…
Got nothing on you
You wreck my mind with such ease
By giving me this, brain freeze.

I'll be waiting for you

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

I'll be waiting for you

I'm on a bus headin south
just a few miles outa, Coolongatta
Along the beach where time and blues
dont really matter
And with nothin' in my way
I'm headin down to Byron Bay
Where the sets roll on in
In perfect time

And I'll be waitin for you

I know the sun's burnin' hot and dry
here in the summer
But the oceans' cool and blue
and its no wonder
That I'm ridin waves all day
Partying the nights away
I know I need some rest
But I aint got time

And I’ll be waitin for you
Rel;

I'm goin to try and ride the wind
Not sure if I'll be back again
I guess my new life’s just began
So come down when you can
and I'll be waitin for you
Inst
I met some friends down here who know all about the weather
They say its never too cold to surf, Don’t get much better
Well you know I got things to do
You guess I’m really missin you
I gotta go the surfs come up
And I’m missin out
But I’m still waitin for ya
Inst…..Yea Right!!!!!!!

Please don't think I'm complaining

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT I'M COMPLAININ'

Gonna bend all the rules and head for the border
Find me a place in the sun
I'm tired of these grey skies and this rainy weather. It's
Depressing and makes me come undone.

Now please don't think I'm complaining
Don't want to be entertained
Can’t see a reason for living
In a city with months and months of rain

Oh I'm leavin' Seattle
I'm done with all this rain
I'll spend my time in Puerto Vallarta
But I'll come back when the summer comes again
Inst

Though I love this winter city, I can't buy enough coffee
To try and keep my frozen fingers warm
And chippin' all that ice from my frozen windshield
Lets me know I never will conform

Oh please don't think that I'm complaining
Clearing my driveway with a spade
Give me the sun in Puerto Vallarta
Drinkin' beer and margueritas in the shade.
Rel

Now I'm lyin' in the sun getting a real cool suntan
Feels like 95 degrees or even more
With the ocean by my side, watchin' all the happy people
Coolin' in the water near the shore

Oh please don't think I'm complainin'
Do you think my reasoning is wrong
Why it’s just a place to spend the winter
And I'll be back in Seattle before too long
Inst
Now please don't think I'm complaining
Don't want to be misunderstood
I just gotta find me some sunshine
And Margueritas that make me feel so good

Running Away

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

Runnin’ Away
Intro;
Running away, Is not what you need right now
You’ve known lonely once before
You’re falling apart, So you’ve got a broken heart
Pick the pieces up off the floor
You know he ain’t worth it
Don’t be hard on yourself this time
He’s a lady’s man and you’re seldom on his mind
He’s had other girls And just like you, he’s left them crying
There’s no trustin’ a man, who just can’t keep from lyin’
Don’t run to your cave, Don’t keep things inside
I know you’re in pain It feels better to hide
But runnin’ won’t help, It’s a long cruel ride
Come out of the dark. You still have a heart that’s beating
The pain you feel means you’re still alive
Time to move on, Let all your friends surround you
They’ll make sure that you survive
You know he ain’t worth it
Don’t be hard on yourself this time
He’s a lady’s man and you’re seldom on his mind
He has other girls And just like you, he leaves them crying
Don’t put your trust in a man, who just can’t keep from lyin’
So come out of that cave. Take a good look outside
You’ve still got you friends
You know they won’t lie, Be good to yourself
And say good bye
Chorus repeat

Don't go

Give me a reason
Why you’re leaving me behind
What made you walk away,
Was it something that I’d said or done,
Would you change your mind and stay
Please stay

Ray

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

I once heard a song
A7 Dm
One that I had never heard before
Fm C run to Am
Heard it comin through a door
D G
I just had to go on in
The sign just said, "Welcome to our restaurant-come try"
"Come hear our music , cause its live" " Why You'll be pleasantly surprised"
Am

Come hear him Play
-----------------------------------

And so I climbed the stairs, Garlic hanging, heavy in the air

On centre stage a wooden chair Yeah, He was playin there

He finger picked that tune With feelin like I'd never heard nor seen

Notes, just ringin crisp and clear and clean He'd be a real big star one day

Am
His name was Ray
Chorus
F C run G
He'd play all the songs you'd really wanna hear
F C
And for the kids a nursery rhyme
F C run Am
Some dirty ditties for a simple glass of beer
D G
Any night with Ray' was a real good time
Am
Listen to him play.
The big time lured him in But fame-and-fortune, he'd never recommend

His place was home, close to his friends Playing songs that he'd just penned

Right near the end, I just , wanted to play with him that day
Wanted to thank him in my way, For giving me the will to play
Here's to you Ray

Don't Destroy Me

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

I saw you leavin’, plannin’ on cheating
Like the devil, you’re so misleading
I know the way you dress, it’s part of your style.
You’re drawin’ men in with that body and smile

You got that come on look
Your hips move so slow
Men gotta follow you
Wherever you go

Now Don’t destroy me, you once loved me…..remember
Oh Our bodies met, the fires they burned
Leavin’ behind a dyin’ ember?

Now with your lyin’ your sneakin about
Leavin me cryin’, while your goin out,
Pick up another guy, put his heart on the run
It’s all just a game for you, you’re just lookin’ for fun

You Give him that come on look
The lust you can’t hide
You’ll have him hooked alright
He’s just there for the ride

But Don’t destroy me, why you once loved me…..remember
Oh Our bodies met, the fires burned
Leavin’ behind a dyin’ ember

Inst

Don’t destroyed me....don’t destroyed me.
Don’t destroy me , hmm...mmm

And So It Goes On

Written By: Christiaan Zwart

Intro
Oh why, did it take us so long, When things wouldn’t work out right,
We’d end it with another fight, and so it goes on
You’re right, when you say the romance is gone, there’s no room for give and take,
Just two lonely hearts that break, and so it goes on
Please tell me why, why are we livin’ in two separate worlds
God knows we’ve tried, to make things work
Should we move on, pursuing interests of our own
Then where to now, are we on our own
Inst
In a world, where everything can change so fast, we can’t find a common path
Why Iit’s seldom we’ve the will to laugh, and so it goes on
We’re both strong, our angry silence lasts so long
There’s no chance you’ll ever see, eye to eye about what’s (killin’ me)
And so it goes on.
Please tell me why, that we’re livin’ in two separate worlds
God knows we’ve tried to make things work
Should we move on, pursuing interests of our own
Then where to now, are we on our own
