Bio

Christi Andropolis is a singer and fiddler who has been turning heads and getting feet tapping for the past ten years. Originally from New York State, her musical inspirations range from the Southern States of the US to the UK, exploring the connections between different folk genres on both sides of the Atlantic. From delta blues to Appalachian tunes, she combines the influence of her American roots with a flair for traditional Scottish and English fiddling, establishing a new voice for transatlantic roots music.

Since moving to the UK in 2002 Christi has appeared at notable venues such as Celtic Connections , The Sage Gateshead, , and Sidmouth Folk Week, and has performed and recorded alongside such influential musicians as Catriona MacDonald, Karen Tweed, and Alistair Anderson.

Christi’s dynamic fiddling, expressive vocals and onstage charisma have quickly gained her a reputation as an exciting and engaging performer, and her recent performances, whether appearing solo or with her six-piece band, have been enthusiastically received.

Other current projects include performances with 2006 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Jim Causley, and Rubus; a new trio with guitarist/songwriter David Newey, and Emily Portman, popular singer from the group The Devil’s Interval.

With irresistible energy and passion, Christi’s performances display a unique style and creativity, making a mark on the scene and expanding the boundaries of the ever-evolving genre of folk.
