Bio

On the inside of Christian Kaser’s right arm is a tattoo he got for free. Not because of a dare on a wild night out, but because the image Christian wanted inked into his skin forever was so unique to the tattoo artist, he offered to do it at no cost. And that image, an owl’s head with the body of an octopus, says more about Christian Kaser the man and musician, than any artist bio ever could.

“The owl symbolizes wisdom. And the octopus can do many things at once, touching feeling, surviving, all with grace,” Christian explained. “It’s how I try to live my life each day.”

That unique perspective and courage to be exactly who he wants to be - odd tattoo and all - is a perfect representation of Christian’s life as a musician. With his musical influences ranging from Wilco to Keith Urban to Bob Marley, Kaser offers a fresh new perspective on country, roots and pop music that is a breath of fresh air.

Christian is well-known in the Ohio music scene for his fun delivery of covers of favorite country and pop songs. After spending time in the studio in Nashville, Tenn., this summer writing and recording new material, Christian is excited to further develop his identity as a singer/songwriter who writes songs about every day life and emotions that are easily accessible and recognizable to listeners but from his unique perspective and voice.

“I try to connect emotions - the highs, lows and in-betweens,” Christian said. “I’m not abstract. My songs are straightforward and honest.”

But from the guy who has the owl/octpus tattoo, listeners will know they are hearing about these emotions they have all felt in a completely new way.

The Beginning

Christian Kaser didn’t have dream of singing on a big stage, in front of thousands of people, drowning in the bright spotlight and applause. He fell into it, as most great artists and creators do, completely by accident at the age of 19.

“I grew up in small town Ohio (Sandusky, Ohio, to be exact) and my parents were very practical,” Christian said. “We always had music in the house, like Carole King and James Taylor, but their wishes were very pragmatic - get a good education, begin a career and keep music as a hobby.”

Christian listened to his parents, but when he was 19, he picked up the guitar and taught himself to play, as an outlet during a difficult time of transition in his life. As he learned more about music, he sought out open-mic nights and any opportunities to play and practice his craft in front of an audience. Though he followed his parents’ practical advice, music became more than just a hobby, but a passion and his main outlet for sharing his own emotions and experiences, all while building an audience who were going through similar situations as Christian.
The Future

Now more than 10 years later, Christian released his first solo EP “Where I Want to Be” in the early spring of 2013. Recorded in Fremont, Ohio, and Nashville, Tenn., Christian has worked with Brennan Willis (“The Undeserving”) and Allen Salmon, a Nashville-based producer, writer and mix engineer who has worked with a wide variety of acts in the Christian and mainstream markets (Eastern Block Adam Agin, Neulore, Building 429, Matt Redman).

The first single, “Good Love,” is a catchy country-pop melody recorded at Salmon’s Das Studio in Nashville. “Good Love” features Nashville’s premier guitarist Jerry McPherson and banjo player Charlie Cushman who have previously played on recordings by Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, Lionel Richie, The Civil Wars, Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson.
