The classic, clean sound of a blues driven Fender with the defining underpinnings of a solid bass and tightly packed drums are the foundation for Christian Mann's music. This foundation is then interspersed with a melodic lead, strong acoustic, and thought provoking lyrics for a well rounded sound.

Biography

Christian Mann & The Guilty Pleasures is first and foremost about the music. It is able to stand on its own, in an acoustic set or with the full band. It is memorable, fun, and encourages the listener to sing along. Contrived lyrics and overused adages are avoided. To put it simply, the focus is on a sound that is genuine and real.

Drawing on a wide range of influences from classic blues greats like Willie Brown and Robert Johnson while melding into more modern artists like John Mayer and Donovan Frankenreiter, Christian Mann has put the focus on incorporating the spirit of their music while still creating a sound that is all his own. He enjoys playing with his band (The Guilty Pleasures), but is just as comfortable stripping it down to one guitar and vocal. However, in either situation, his focus is on conveying the emotion of the moment through the instrument and lyrics.

Christian Mann has honed his stage presence through years of playing in traditional and non-traditional church settings as both a supporting role and the main instrument and/or vocal. He is confident and light-hearted on stage, aiding him in developing a strong rapport with his audience. Christian's willingness to laugh and not take himself too seriously has allowed him to make a connection with both large and small crowds, thus a reason he is booked every year to play multiple holiday parties and gatherings. Whether or not his music reaches millions of ears or simply the hundreds he encounters locally, Christian Mann is honored to touch lives in some small way through his music.

Lyrics

Metro Romance

Written By: Christian Mann

V1: I was down at the station waiting anticipating as time rolled by / And I started to wonder if I had misplaced the number confused the time / Cause you were not where I thought you would be / So now I'm wondering should I stay here or should I maybe just leave
C1: I've been counting the seconds until I see you again O baby / It's been so long now I'm afraid I missed a chance at a glance O maybe / Because you weren't where I thought you would be
V2: I could pretend I was people watching maybe solving the world's problems while I wait / If I could maybe just blend in a crossword puzzle some caffeine to calm my nerves / Would it be obvious if I just stopped what I was doing started calling names / Cause the waiting not knowing not sure when you will show is getting old / So now I'm wondering should I stay here or should I maybe just leave

V3: If I only had the nerve played the part of the verb wouldn't still be here / But my reaction time is slow you were gone before go was reality / So now it's looking like once in a lifetime passed me by / So now I'm wondering should I stay here or should I maybe just leave
C2: I've been counting the second until I see you again O baby / It's been so long now I'm afraid I missed a chance at a glance O maybe / Hoped you were the one is there a way to let you know / Because you weren't where I thought that you...

Perspective

Written By: Christian Mann

V1: Staring at the fading sun / Reach to touch it but it's gone / Everything is relative / Truth is based in perspective / Like when you said I can make it better than before / And I'm not trying to sell you something you don't need
C1: Hey Hey Hey / I like where this is going let's wait and see / Hey Hey Hey / Having you here right beside me it's easy / Hey Hey Hey / I'm not going anywhere you can trust me / Don't you believe them when they say love is a lie
V2: Guilt is a dirty game we play / We point our fingers our lips never say / Resentment builds behind emotional dams / Quietly we drown / And you're a respite from this cruel little world / And I'd just like to stay here in this moment with you

Contradiction

V3: The snow is falling it's New Year's Eve / And I'm so alone here it's hard to breathe / But I have got a resolution that I'll hold onto / Don't you know that I'm moving on

Set Me Free

Where Do We Go

Written By: Christian Mann

CH 1: Where do we go when it all falls apart / How can you stand there tell me give it time / I am barely breathing
V1: Is it black and white or shadowed hues of things we've seen / Do we live in dreams to dream of lives we wish we lived / I'd have sworn this all was real / This paper moon and velcro stars
CH 2: Where do we go when it all falls apart / How can you stand there tell me give it time / I am barely breathing / Knew all along that this couldn't last / Just needed something to get me through the night / It's cold without you
V2: Is there truth behind the words we use to hide the lies / Is this love's dying breath the whispered echoes of all we were / It's a solitary dance / This love that's burning to the ground
BR: Is this ghost of us a silhouette of what we used to be / It's hard to move on when time is standing still
