"Complex Magazine"

Because we’re always up for new talent, we thought you should be up on Christian Rich, a new band that’s headlining at Webster Hall this Friday, February 27.

The Chicago-based (now living in NY) group has already put in work in the studio on songs by Lil’ Kim and Clipse, and now they will release their first album, The Decadence, in March. For their first single, Christian Rich tapped BBGUN (the director of Jim Jones’ Day N’ Nite Video) to direct their first video for “Famous Girl.” Watch the teaser video below, then look for the full-length visual on Complex.com in the next few weeks.

"URB Magazine"

Here's a crazy collab to start off your new year. Christian Rich freaked five Young Jeezy tracks, slapped it on the Internet with artwork from Lemar and Dauley and called it a wrap. Actually, they called it Jeezy Eats at Lola's, after the Tribeca restaurant that threw the whole neighborhood into a tizzy. Peep the tracklisting:

1) Young Jeezy - We Dat (Christian Rich Mix)
2) Young Jeezy and M.I.A - In '92 I Was Paid (Christian Rich Mix)
3) Young Jeezy and MGMT - Electric Survival (Christian Rich Mix)
4) Young Jeezy and Hotchip - Arrested Crazy (Chrisitan Rich Mix)
5)Young Jeezy and Kanye West - I'm Amazing (Christian Rich Mix)

"Hypetrak"

Chicago bred Christian Rich hit the blogosphere with an Electronic inspired menacing sounding track entitled “Stacks”. The band is mostly known for their production work with the likes of Lil Kim and early Clipse records, but here they stand out on their own with a song that would sound just as comfortable on Hip Hop radio as it would at a sweaty dance club. The sound is built on the repetitive, braggadocious chorus by none other by Mr. Carter himself. Download the track below.

"MTV"

Christian Rich love their Air Jordans, The Dog Whisperer, and iPhones, but hate chewing ice. Find out more about the Chicago born artists and producers in this week’s Hot Seat.

1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
Christian Rich: This is cliche but so far the craziest experience has been the after parties and not knowing which female to actually court. So sometimes you take so long trying to pick one that you end up in the hotel alone watching HBO and chewing ice.

2. What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
Christian Rich: The College class to take would be Entrepreneur Business Studies. Being in this game you have so many business proposals. Its always efficient to know how to handle those transactions and how to create some when you need to.

3. What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
Christian Rich: Wow, I would say Miami. Get a dope condo hotel for the weekend, go to the Shore club and wild out! Miami has great women but its also a great space to relax and create music. Plus you can’t go wrong with beach weather.

4. What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
Christian Rich: Learn how to do everything in this game especially writing your own music.

5. What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
Christian Rich: The Bird and the Bee, Great group.

6. The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
Christian Rich: I’m addicted to the “Dog Whisperer” I tell all the dog owners in the street how to control their dogs now.

7. What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
Christian Rich: First concert we cared to see was N.E.R.D when they first started… we saw Pharrell with some Bape sneakers and were thinking why is he wearing converse… The concert was inspiring and it played in big part in why we knew we could be great artist.

8. What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
Christian Rich: Our iPhones, Our laptop and some Air Jordan Number 8s

9. Who are your major musical influences?
Christian Rich: Of course Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones. Everyone pretty much followed their lead. We owe our vision and creativity to those two, and God. Michael Jacsion just made it easy to understand music but he also made it wide open for new sounds. The Thriller album and Off the Wall album are the only vinyl albums we kept from our record collection. So you can see our obsession with these two fellas.

10.Any random messages or tips you’d like to give to mtvU watchers?
Christian Rich: Go buy and listen to Famous Girl on itunes and if you did already, thanks and go buy it again. We have more coming so stayed tuned at www.christianrichgoods.com

"Lemar and Dauley"

Its crazy how fast things can move when your organized. Last week Christian Rich hit us up to collaborate on this Jezzy mixtape. They pitched the concept about Jeezy eating at Lolas in Tribeca and heading off to perform at Club Sway where his vocals would be placed over these less drug trafficking, but drug induced instrumentals. Three days later they sent us the music files. The art work was created in one day and colored on day two. I tweeted finishing the art last night, to find it posted on URB.com today. Not bad for a few days work (keep in mind lots of talent was involved).

"Afripop Magazine"

Chicago-via-Nigeria twins Kehinde and Taiwo Hassan began as a production team that has crafted records for artists like Lil’ Kim, Fabolous, The Clipse and Raekwon. Taking their name from famed French designer Christian Dior, the brothers are stepping out from behind the boards and assailing the music scene with their cheeky, genre-averse jams. Their collaboration with dance music demigod Armand Van Helden, “Ski Hard,” burned up MTV UK. Their mixtapes with streetwear kings Lemar and Dauley, I Found My Favorite Beats and Rhymed to Them While Watching Coming to America and Jeezy Eats at Lola’s are stacked with rowdy lyrics, synth-infused hip hop and artful mash-ups of Baltimore and Chicago house. With their album The Decadence set to drop in Spring 2009, AfriPop sat down with Kehinde, also known as Rich of Christian Rich, to find out how to really make it in America.

Bio

Chicago-bred, electro-beat-making, clever-rhyming, falsetto-singing Christian Rich are one of the most exciting and innovative duos in music today. The twin brothers have, up to now, been a quiet force in platinum-charting hip-hop, helping to make hit records for Lil' Kim ("Get in Touch With Us" and "Queen Bitch 101"), Clipse ("I'm Serious"), Armand Van Helden ("Ski Hard"),Young Gunz ("Problems"), Foxy Brown ("Jumping") and Timbaland artist Izza Kizza ("Hello") to name a slew. They landed their first overseas smash with electro giant Armand Van Helden with the banger "Ski Hard". The video is currently on MTV UK, VH1, NME and many other media outlets. Complex Magazine also sponsored the video trailer for "Famous Girl". The video was directed by BB Gun and is currently playing on Complex.com, Onsmash.com, Dailymotions.com, NME.com and other sites. With such a growing resume, it's no surprise the pair have completed their own album; as their ranks on the production side increases, the artist side seems to be catching up quickly.

In order to build anticipation for their new EP titled "The Decadence" , Christian Rich have given their audiences a taste of what to expect. Between blogs and fan sites, they have managed to make their new singles "Famous Girl" and "Stacks" catchy sing a longs, while teasing us with future sounds like "Fresh 'n' Fly" and "Countdown". Their song "The Schemer" is currently on trendsetting clothing label G-Star Raw's European compilation due out this year. The highly exclusive European brand Maharishi grabbed up their summer smash "Monday Tuesday Girl" for its newest mixtape while Los Angeles-based clothing company DimePiece Designs used it for their 2008 summer campaign.

The boys have also completed a mixtape which serves as a prelude to "The Decadence" album called "I Found My Favorite Beats And Rhymed To Them While Watching 'Coming To America': The Decay Mixtape". The tape serves as a way for fans to have new music and prepare for the duos refreshing sounds. The mixtape is in collaboration with New York based brand Lemar and Dauley. They also released the URB Magazine endorsed mixtape "Jeezy Eats At Lola's". An electro-beat interpolation of Young Jeezy's 5 best songs. The tape was also sponsored by Lemar and Dauley.
Christian Rich are also in the studio finishing up work with Kid Sister, Mista Fab, Mickey Factz, Team Facelift and others.

Christian Rich are definitely making a new sound that is changing the way producers and artists alike approach music, discovering a way to blend Electronica, Hip Hop, R&B and Pop into every record. With their background as producers as well as their crowd pleasing performances and addictive songs, Christian Rich is set to make their own lane on the super-highway through contemporary music. Keep an eye out for these Chicago go-getters!
