"Live Music Hour - Center Spread"

"Christian Seith’s performance last
Wednesday at Montgomery College
Rockville’s second Live Music Hour at the
Student Lounge was business as usual for
Seith.
Seith’s acoustic-guitar driven folk
hearkens back to the Dave Matthews Band
of ten years ago. Fittingly, Seith performed
a well-received cover of the popular DMB hit
“Ants Marching” before playing local favorite
and original song, “Believe.”
Although the show ran into a bit of a snag
when Seith broke a string, resourceful students
managed to scrounge one up within minutes in
order for Seith to continue his performance.
Seith, 23 and newly back at MC after
a four year hiatus, spent the last few years
traveling, playing guitar at cafes, and
working in commercial radio. His stay as a
third and fourth-grade teacher at a bilingual
school in Costa Rica, although unrelated,
ranks as interesting alongside his other
accomplishments.
Seith will be performing at the SYT’s
talent show (whenever that happens) and in
New York City at the Stain, a bar in Brooklyn,
December 10.
A sampling of Seith’s latest EP
can be heard at:" www.MySpace.com/

""To watch Christian play is like watching someone listen to the Beatles for the first time""

Acoustic - Folk: Under The Lights: Christian Seith

Thursday, May 01, 2008
by Michael Orton

I arrived at the Skylark Lounge on Broadway a bit after 9:00 PM, paid my $5 cover, and headed to the bar. Up on stage was Christian Seith doing his sound check and warm up. I was a bit worried as between my friend, the doorman, the barkeep, and the few stragglers that came to join in the nights festivities, there were between fifteen and twenty people to see the nights show. Shortly after ordering my pint, Christian came to chat for a bit. As I sat and spoke with the DU Jazz major about his life in music thus far, I realized the he is the biggest act that no one has heard of (Yet!). Christian has opened for Rascal Flats and Kenny Chesney on a special VIP stage earlier in his career. He arrived in Denver via Washington D.C. via Costa Rica where his CD "Believe" (Find it, buy it!) was recorded and mixed. He has a 60's folkie meets Dave Matthews sound with a bit of fun thrown in the mix. To watch Christian play is like watching someone listen to the Beatles for the first time. This is a man who truly enjoys his art and doesn't do it just for the $40 and three free drinks! Check Christian out on his MySpace page where you can purchase tracks from his CD, or better yet, track down his shows! He will be performing at DU Unplugged @ the Sidelines Pub in the Driscoll North building on University of Denver's campus. - Colorado Music Buzz Magazine

Bio

As the product of two Classical Music and Art school graduates in a bohemian household, I am a jazz guitar major at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. and a solo singer/songwriter as well. The impressions of blues, rock, jazz, bluegrass and soul have been stamped upon me with varied sprinkles of hip-hop, classical, and folk music. Musical influences to my tastes and style have been artists like Jimi Hendrix, Big and Rich, Simon & Garfunkel and the world beat of the Dave Matthews Band.
I have played in venues located in cites that range from Washington, DC, Boston, New York City, San Francisco and Berkley, CA to as far away as Monteverde, Costa Rica. While spending a year in Monteverde, Costa Rica volunteering at a bi-lingual school, I was able to wet my feet by performing at coffeehouses, open-mic nights, and school functions, but eventually moved onto featured spots at local restaurants, cafes.
Upon returning home to the DC area, I again worked my way up from open-mic nights and school functions to featured gigs around town. I have had the honor of performing at local area showcases through groups like D.C. Acoustic Underground, Gena’s Place Songwriter Showcase, the Songwriters Association of Washington and Germantown Live with Ken Salaets. Headlining spots include slots at Stain Cafe and Galleria in Brooklyn, NY, Staccato’s in Adams Morgan, DC, the Austin Grill in Silver Spring, Kramer’s Books and Café in Dupont Circle, DC and Caribou Coffee in Olney, MD. Other such highlights in my burgeoning career have been 2 headlining spots at the 2006 Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg, MD and the “Z-tent” V.I.P. Patio Stage during the Rascal Flatts show at Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA.
