Feeling a bit camera shy

In 1998 Chris Timbers began to make his mark on the Virginia music scene as a singer/songwriter. Teaming up with Jake Phillips, he began playing professionally throughout the DC Metropolitan area as the duo “Less Traveled.” Soon after their immediate success, drummer Bruce Guttridge (Carl Falipiak) and Gary Grainger (John Scofield) recognized their talent and became the rhythm section for Less Traveled.

In 2000, the band released their debut CD, “Nobody.” Writing seven out of the twelve tracks, Chris quickly gained notoriety as a songwriter. Less Traveled’s regional success gave way to east and west coast touring, and radio airplay. The band honed its sound through the stream of prestigious musicians whom which they have shared the stage, including Merle Saunders, Paul Reed Smith, Blues Traveler, Tim Reynolds and Agents of Good Roots. At the 2002 NAMM show in L.A. Chris’ songwriting gained him endorsements from Godin Guitars and Dean Markley Strings.

Before launching his solo career in NYC, Chris wrote and played for another upcoming band “Reverend Hookems.” Their CD, “What’s Burning” gave Chris the opportunity to produce his own material and fashion new musical styles.

Since living in New York City, Chris has focused on developing as a solo artist. His unique acoustic grooves and diversity of sound have culminated into a style that is impossible to pigeon-hole into one category. This should be sufficient in giving an idea of where
Chris Timbers has been, where he is, and where he’s going. The rest is in his music.
