genre-bending, soul defending sweet, southern rock that will knock your socks off! a songwriter to watch!

Biography

Christina has lived all over North Carolina and settled in Asheville, NC 8 years ago. This record, WHITE TRASH GODDESS, is the result of decades of songwriting and three years of production efforts, gathering musicians and studio time in Asheville, NC.

Christina is the proud mother of 2 boys, Ian: Class of 2012 and founder of Blue Dragon Records, and Joshua: 3 year old homeschooled 1st grader. She has a degree in Theatre from UNCG and has been serving some of the nation's phinest festivals, including Bonnaroo, Merlefest and Smilefest for over 10 years.

From opening the Hospitality position at The Orange Peel on Biltmore Avenue in 2002 to stage managing the LAAFFestival the last few Septembers on Lexington Avenue, Christina follows a personal mission to unite and promote the local music scene. She serves the board of Arts2People, a local non-profit which serves to preserve the original artists community that has existed for centuries and is threatened by boom-town style growth and high-dollar interests.

White Trash Goddess serves a higher purpose by donating 15% of proceeds to the adult recovery of childhood sexual abuse. Blue Dragon Records donates 15% of annual profit to the Asheville Buncombe United Way.

Lyrics

white trash lullaby

Written By: christina aurea

i'm a white trash goddess with so much to say
tired of worries which stand in my way
rest your head baby, get ready for a brand new day

i have two sons rising
and a moon that is waning
sometimes i'm too angry
to be entertaining
i try to stay smooth
waves falling and rising
i drop to my knees
when the light is capsizing
i believe in magic and drinking and talking
and knowing the name of the water that you're walking baby
i'm a white trash goddess with so much to say
tired of worries which stand in my way
rest your head baby, get ready for a brand new day

i wrestle with a napkin
and an oversized pen
i scratch out your name
and then i write it again
i scribble out a love song
and wad it into trash
it's all too pungent
from whisky and hash
my existence is soggy with irony
never a drip is lost on me
i'm a white trash goddess with so much to say
tired of worries which stood in my way
rest your head baby, get ready for a brand new day

ever since the first time that things went too far
i been dreaming of escaping on that wishing star
and maybe i'm fuzzy cause maybe i'm drunk
but it seems like every good ship has been sunk
and you don't need no trailer park to feel the way i do
just some perspective on the dreams that get you through
ah child, what's gonna get you through?
i'm a white trash goddess with too much to say
tired of worries which stand in my way
rest your head baby, get ready for a brand new day

ode to bob

Written By: christina aurea

letter on a desk top brother on a roof top
heart is in a crucial spot and mama's ridin on top
shine, shine, shine come and get me high

the sun is rising and my head's just lying down
i told my brother, you can't jump, not in the middle of town
but i think... he likes the scene
he told my mother he just ain't got no gift
but i know my brother and he's always looking for a lift
he's always... living in a dream

jimi on a phat riff janis on a southern cliff
keith is on a mainline and mama's feeling just fine
shine, shine, shine come and get me high

don't let me selfish there's enough to go around
or so that's what i thought until you knocked me to the ground

feather by a rainbow ticket to the late show
brother says he's gotta go and mama never needs to know
shine, shine, shine come and get me high

open me up let me swallow you whole
come on inside let the truth unfold
i think i've seen you before
told my man we're just wasting time
but like my brother you will always be a friend of mine
you never know what's in store

flowers in a french braid homemade lemonade
hail mary touchdown mama's lying on the ground
shine, shine, shine come and get me high

money, baby

Written By: christina aurea

whoever dreamed that i'd be seen
jumping up and down over a washing machine
whoever thought that you'd be here
baby let me grab us just a couple of beers
i wanna twist and shout, hoot and holler
maybe you and me could make a million dollars
dreamin up lyrics to a country song
maybe find a place where we belong
maybe we could buy the american dream
with our own little piece of an internet scheme
we gotta watch our backs can't raise too much hell
i don't wanna spend another night in jail

life is rich, life is funny
i think you should be my long time honey
life is rich and love is money, baby
i think you and me, we're gonna be okay, yeah....

mama used to say i was a picky girl
didn't want me to be lonesome in the big cold world
daddy couldn't see who might put up with me
'specially since the dawning of MTV
i had big ideas, bigger mouth
couldn't keep it closed, that's how we are down south
lest i'm sizing you up to figure what's in store
listen and learn cause that's what livin's for
the most important thing is being free
the blood that flows is like the air we breathe

life is rich, life is funny
i think you should be my long-time honey
life is rich, love is money, baby
i think you and me, we're gonna be okay

i remember dolly parton and loretta lynn
i wish i could see them duet again
i remember when pat benatar said "brother please
don't tell papa but i gotta leave"
she's singing jazz in the city or so i'm told
let me know i'm not getting too old
to make it the way i know it could be
go ahead and make a joke but wait and see...

life is rich, life is funny
i think you should be my long-time honey
life is rich, love is money, baby
i think you and me, we're gonna be okay

Set List

I do not have, nor have I yet had, a touring band. I have plans to produce a multi-media tour showcasing Asheville artists: to include rock bands, acoustic songwriters, dance troupes, non-profits, comedian/slam poets and more. I think the show should run 4-5 hours, and I appreciate an early door with early-bird entertainment.

i perform 60-80% original material depending on crowd size and response:

covers include obscure choices from classic artists and a few genre-switching hits from van morrison and joni mitchell to stevie wonder and aretha franklin, the stones, the who, the______(insert favorite band here)
