"Christina Brehm- Song from 22"

Song From 22

When I was 22, I met a 21 year old. The first time we hung out, we had a "marathon date," if you will. We played drinking games and watched movies, drank a box of wine while walking around the city of Boston at 3am, took the subway to the beach when the public transportation opened, stopped off at the airport for coffee and donuts, bought pancake mix for lunch... and collapsed from exhaustion. The entire event lasted about 14 hours. It was everything I was looking for-- irrational, mindless FUN!

I could get used to this...

We went to bars just for last call, hung out at playgrounds after-hours, and walked miles in the dark to get to crappy all-night diners.

Then... just as I was getting used to it... I remembered what it was like to be 21.

I'm not saying one year is a big age difference, by any means, but when you've just turned 21, you can drink legally, and BAM-- the world is your oyster! This kid had no intentions of making this a regular thing, let alone a committed thing. So, I came down from my dating high, wrote "Song from 22" and vowed not to stick around long enough for karma to show me what I had done just 1 year prior.

Ever since then, it's been one of my favorite songs to share with people. It's super lighthearted and relatable. I take people on a journey with me-- all the way up to cloud 9, and then right back down to earth-- snapping their fingers and tapping their toes along the way! - 'Round Magazine

"Shannon Allen / Christina Brehm / Mike Hubbard"

Thursday, January 26, 2012 - 7:00pm
Cafe 939
939 Boylston Street
Boston, MA, 02115

Shannon Allen came to Berklee College of Music in 2009 from Cleveland, Ohio to become a songwriter and realized that she already had the skills, but that she just needed to find her voice. Her version of pop/rock is catchy hooks coupled with energetic and engaging shows. Having just finished her first album, Crazy, in December, she is excited to perform her new tracks at the show.

Christina Brehm is a singer-songwriter from Texas whose catchy melodies and biting lyrics are written with undeniable conviction. She's got a gift for pop writing, a knack for country, and a passion for blues. Her songwriting skills, paired with a powerfully unique voice, are simply a force to be reckoned with.

Mike Hubbard is a singer-songwriter from Reading, PA. A recent magna cum laude graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting, Hubbard has just released his much-anticipated EP featuring six of his most highly praised songs. He is also a current member of the renowned professional a cappella group the Hyannis Sound. Hubbard's playing experience ranges from large venues like the Berklee Performance Center to much more intimate spaces like restaurants in the city of Boston, private parties, and churches all over Cape Cod. Although pop-rock music is his passion, while at Berklee Hubbard was a winner of the Curtain Up musical theater writing contest for his song "Unforgettable Night," cowritten by Nicky Roode. His versatile playing style on multiple instruments and personal, emotionally charged lyrics have garnered praise from Berklee professors and students alike. With his band, Hubbard will be performing throughout the next year in Boston and the surrounding areas to promote his new record. - Berklee College of Music

Bio

Christina’s musical journey began at a young age when she began taking lessons at Septien Entertainment Group, following in the footsteps of Jessica Simpson and studying alongside artists Ryan Cabrera, and Demi Lovato. In 2005, she advanced to the Hollywood Round of the hit FOX TV show, “American Idol”. Later that year, she was awarded Honorable Mention in BMI’s John Lennon Songwriting Contest and was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition’s Teen Category.

For the next four years, Christina attended The University of Texas at Austin, and used this time to fully immerse herself in the business side of the music industry. Whether it was working as a background vocalist, a concert manager, or an intern for Capitol Records, The Recording Academy, and Texas Music Office, Christina spent every free minute building a network and gaining valuable industry experience. As her college years came to a close, she realized that working in the business of music couldn’t fulfill her the same way that creating and performing music did.

The following year, she enrolled at Berklee College of Music, where she not only thrived academically, but also proved herself as an in-demand vocalist and songwriter. In 2011, she was awarded the Songwriting Achievement Award by faculty member and author of “Writing Better Lyrics”, Pat Pattison, as well as receiving the Berklee Achievement Scholarship for her vast creative accomplishments. She released her debut EP entitled “The Morning After Sessions” in December of 2011, and in May of 2012, she was asked to perform at Berklee’s Commencement Concert, honoring Alison Krauss and The Eagles. Christina paid tribute to Eagles member, Joe Walsh, in front of an audience of 7,000 people, which included the honorees, themselves.

Christina is currently living in the Los Angeles area working as a songwriter and session vocalist.
