"Chriss meets Miley"

Sterling Heights rocker Christina Chriss met and briefly spoke with actress-singer Miley Cyrus earlier this week, according to a message on Chriss’ Facebook page.

The two crossed paths in the bathroom of J. Alexander’s restaurant in Troy’s Somerset shopping center. Cyrus is in the Detroit area filming a movie, “LOL: Laughing Out Loud” with Demi Moore.

According to Chriss, a Stevenson High School graduate, Cyrus didn’t know the name of a male actor who is featured in the film.

“I was cracking up because she didn’t know the name of the guy she’s filming with,” Chriss wrote on Facebook. “(I)t reminded me of when she was quoted saying she didn’t know who Jay Z was after her ‘Party in the USA’ song came out … she said ‘the guy from ‘Hung’ is in it, but I don’t know his name. Do you know his name?’”

The actor Cyrus was talking about is Thomas Jane, who plays her father in the upcoming film. - Macomb Daily News

"For DARE grads, this message rocks"

More than 2,000 DARE program graduates had smiles on their faces Tuesday while rocking and rolling to the entertainment at the Freedom Hill Amphitheater in Sterling Heights. The anti-drug event was sponsored with donations obtained by local police officers.

The elementary school students gathered under the giant amphitheater dome for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education event.

The students sang and danced to the music of the Christina Chriss Band of Ferndale and listened to the antics and words of wisdom of special guest, Retro Bill of California.

Retro Bill told students to stay away from drugs and be their own boss.

Christina Chriss got the show going by encouraging students to yell and shake their bodies throughout her band’s set.

The students enjoyed themselves, said Roseville DARE officers Tom Pfeifer, who emceed the program, along with Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputy John Twomey.

The students were treated to a lunch of hot dogs and pop.

Chriss, 23, of Ferndale, said she has that youthful appearance because she stays away from drugs and makes healthy choices. She donated her band’s time to the DARE program.

The students also participated in a dance contest.

Retro Bill told the youngsters that the name of the game is making good choices. He said the students should also turn away when someone wants them to do something wrong, no matter what it is.

“You have to be strong to make the right choices,” Retro Bill said. “And that is what DARE is all about.”

Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel has two deputies teaching DARE in two public school districts and private schools. Both DARE officers also put in time with various organizations to assist children.

The nine-week curriculum is taught in area schools. It also is taught in all 50 states and 40 countries. - Macomb Daily News

"Rocking the Runway!"

Things heated up quickly when Christina Chriss, who not only Rocked The Stage tonight with her band, putting the pop in the air with a dazzling display, but also rocked the runway, modeling off the wares of Malvagio Clothing while getting the crowd pumped up with her energetic stroll down the runway which only fueled the fire rolling off that runway, enticing all the models, including the males, to put a little more zip in their appearances. - Detroit Rock Review

"Hayloft revs up!"

Continuing the raging fire on stage was the Christina Chriss Band, fronted by the equally ferocious Christina Chriss, she slammed the party stickshift into overdrive with a rearranged version of GaGa's Poker Face that sent the Hayloft into dance mode! A definite fashion plate on the scene, Christina brings flair to the stage that seems to be lacking at most local rock shows, as well as an incredible vocal that had the crowd up front of the stage as she launched into an array of original tunes that kept the crowd moving. Supported by an all star band, Christina has that triple threat of looks, voice, and presence that makes her one of thee bands to keep an eye on, and from the response of tonight's crowd, she is certainly on her way! "Cover Girls of Detroit Live!"

Next up was The Christina Chriss Band. When I first interviewed Christina a year or so ago there was no Christina Chriss band, yet she was committed to “taking over the world”. At the time Christina was singing with a karaoke style group around Detroit. A lot has changed since them. Shortly after our first interview she joined forces with Brett Kropog (drums), Cody Morales (bass) and Desy (guitar). These guys were experienced and talented musicians who combined their experience and cohesion with Christina’s talent and passion to come up with one of the most entertaining and moving bands in Detroit. Christina has definitely exploded onto the scene over the last year. Her stage presence and explosive energy combined with her model-esqe appearance and undeniable vocal talent has propelled TCCB to becoming one of the most sought after bands in Detroit. TCCB aren’t counting on luck, good looks or the favor of the gods to get where they are, they are utilizing a rare and mystical technique passed down thru the ages. The ancient Greeks called it hardimus workamus. Drummer Brett Kropogg, in addition to being an entertaining and talented drummer, is a tireless promoter. If you are wondering what all the hype is about you can see for yourself by stopping into Bumpers in Westland any Thursday night in the month of May to rock out with Christina and the boys. www.myspace.com/christinachrissband - Detroit Live Magazine

Bio

Stumble into your favorite Detroit club and there’s a damn good chance you’ll witness the Christina Chriss Band. The sweat and grit of the Motor City floods their stage show to the chants of “CCB.” A wall of sound hits the crowd, evoking the starlet offspring of No Doubt and Evanescence – while their likely-Godfather Mike Posner looks on with approval.
The CCB’s trick is melting heavy rock thunder with palatable pop sensibilities. Embodied through anthemic hooks and instrumental wizardry, their sound magically fuses hip-hop and punk for good measure.
Meet the stars: Christina, Brett, James, & Cody. In the summer of 2008, a perfect storm thrust the tattooed princess and rhythmic monster into Fate’s hands. While miraculously a funk prodigy and production guru desired the same place in history. The quartet immediately set to conquering their domain, marching towards 200 live performances by fall 2010 – notably opening for Taproot.
They’ve got respect too. An endorsement from Rockstar Energy Drinks will bear an upcoming feature on the Rockstar website – the first for a female-fronted act. A forthcoming documentary on Detroit’s Rock & Roll history will feature the sounds of the CCB along-side notable main-stay music acts from the area.
The band is currently touring relentlessly through their region and preparing material with L.A.-based producer Mark Grilliot for an upcoming release.
