About this Artist

What you see is what you get with Christina Simos. Reminiscent of Tina Turner, this sassy lady sings from her heart and writes with her soul. Her songs chronicle her life - all the good, bad, and oh so dramatic. Born in Jamaica, Queens NY, with an instinctive feel for catchy, soulful grooves, Christina’s music is an infusion of R & B, dance, pop, rock and soul. Her lyrics are emotionally honest, sassy and heartfelt. “It’s all about the journey.” Christina says. “It’s about empowerment, connecting with others, finding your place and shining your light.”

Her first break was in 1999 on MTV as a finalist with the MTV Wanna Be a VJ Too Contest. She beat out thousands of eager VJs but didn’t win. It was a devastating blow for her. “I thought that I was finally going to get my break.” Christina says. “MTV brought me back to audition for an MTV NEWS VJ but the Universe had other plans for me.”

In 1999 Christina moved to West Hollywood to pursue her music. Over the last five years she has built a strong fan base in West Hollywood. She has performed at various venues throughout Los Angeles, Hollywood and San Francisco. Christina performs regularly at benefit shows and fundraisers raising money for Aids research and people in recovery. She is currently writing and recording music with Producer Eddie Hedges (Founder of Blessid Union of Souls) and singer/songwriter Michael Patrick Coughlin. Christina believes firmly in giving back to her community. She mentors at-risk youth and produces musical showcases for elementary children.

In the winter of 2008 Christina made her debut back to musical theater playing the Heat Miser in Misfits directed by Tom Pardoe. (Best in Drag) In the spring of 2009, she received rave reviews for her role as the Gypsy woman in Cirque De’ Amazed directed by Jonathan Slavin (Better off Ted). Her hit song “All About Me” written with Eddie Hedges was a finalist in the 2008 USA Songwriting Competition. In June 2010, Christina performed in front of thousands on San Francisco Pride’s Main Stage along with Rose Royce, The Back Street Boys, Martha and the Motels and Andy Bell. She recently finished shooting her first music video “So Many Times,” with Michael Patrick Coughlin. “I’ve overcome many obstacles to get here.” Christina says. “My journey has been painfully beautiful and I want to show that no matter your age or your past, if it is to be, it will be. No matter what don't give up.”

Set Me Free

Set Me Free
Written By Christina Simos 10/1/2001
Background Vocals and music by Michael Patrick Coughlin 2006

Set me free, Set me Free
Hear my cry for liberty
Set me free, so I can shine somehow today

Let me gather the strength I need
Help me get up off my knees
Let me shine for another day
Let the negativity fade away

Set me free, set me free
Hear my cry for liberty
Set me free, so my light won’t fade away

All these burdens that I bear
I let them go cuz with you I shared
The pain and love of a tragedy
For the first time I see you and me
For the first time I see unity

Set me free, set me free
Let me be, oh let me see
Set me free, so I can be somehow today

And though my skyline has changed
Oh how the spirit remains cuz
You can’t take what we won’t give
We are survivors and we shall live
We are survivors and we shall live

Set me free, set me free
Hear my cry for liberty
Set me free, so I can be somehow today
So I can be somehow today
So I can be somehow today

After the Storm

Written By: written and produced by Eddie Hedges

AFTER THE STORM – written by Eddie Hedges ASCAP 2010
VERSE 1
You were my everything
The joy you’d bring
I trusted you to keep me
Safe from harm, nice and warm
My shelter from the storm, but
That was, oh, so long ago
Like the love we used to know
That’s all gone
It’s like were walking through the storm
But I know
HOOK
After the storm
My life will go on
Lessons were learned, bridges were burned
It’s my turn
To live again, to love again
Time for me to breathe again
My life will go on after the storm
VERSE 2
If I only knew what you would put me through
I would not have given you
All my heart, every part
Right from the start, but
I found the strength to walk away
From all the sorrow and the pain
It’s time for me to leave
And get out of this rain
Stop playing games
HOOK
BRIDGE
I’m nobody’s fool
You lost me, we’re through
‘Cuz I deserve your very best
That’s what I’ve been giving you
I never thought I
Would ever tell you good-bye
But it’s better that I leave this place
Then stay with you and die inside
HOOK OUT

Goodbye

Written By: lyrics by Christina Simos, produced by Eddie Hedges

GOODBYE

INTRO
You know I’m just sick and tired of being sick and tired
Lettin’ the past hold me back
I’m just tryin’ to be me but I’m scared
I just need to find away to let go, let my light shine
There has got to be better way

Verse
Deeper than the cruelest sea
That’s how I’ve treated me
Fighting no one but my own self
Destroying nothing but my mental health

Chorus
Right now, I gotta find a better way
Right now, I gotta find the words to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

Verse
Driven by a thousand forms of fear
Watching my light disappear
I wanna let go but I don’t know how
I need some help and I need it now

Chorus
Right now, I gotta find a better way
Right now, I gotta find the words to say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

BRIDGE
Everything I said I’d never do – I’ve done
Every line I said I’d never cross – I’ve crossed
It’s not if you win
It’s not when you fall
It’s how you live your life in spite of it all

Chorus

I gotta let my light shine
I wanna, I need to find a way to say goodbye
to that which does not love me
to that which does not love me

Wrap It UP

Written By: written and produced by Eddie Hedges

WRAP IT UP – written by Eddie Hedges ASCAP 2010

VERSE 1
Don’t talk to me
You created such catastrophe
In my heart I blame
You for playing all those hurtful games
Get out of my face with your lies
You played your games for the last time
Wrap it up boy it’s over
You have no place in my life
You played your games for the last time
Wrap it up boy it’s over
HOOK
Wrap it up
I gave you all of me
Wrap it up
Everything
Wrap it up
I need you what were you thinking
Wrap it up
Want you to know
That I’ll be moving on so
Wrap it up cuz boy it’s over
VERSE 2
You saw your chance
You took it faking all of the romance
I gave you all of me
I was a victim of your fallacy
Get out of my face with your lies
You played your games for the last time
HOOK
BRIDGE
For all the nights I sat at home
All alone by the phone
Wrap it up
For all the promises to me
You didn’t keep. Yeah. Your talk is cheap
Wrap it up
For all the times when
You lied about where you’ve been
She’s just a friend. Yeah
You can wrap it up
Cuz boy it’s over

One Day At A Time

One Day At A Time

Written by Christina Simos
Background vocals and music by Michael Patrick Coughlin
Ascap 2006

Cuz there’s no place you can’t go
And there’s nothing you can’t do
There’s no reason to believe that your dreams can’t come true

One day at a time
One day you will find
One moment to define
All that you are and all that you can do

One day at a time
One day you will find
That the world is yours
If you have faith in the risks that you take

Cuz there’s no place you can’t go
And there’s nothing you can’t do
There’s no reason to believe that your dreams can’t come true
If I believe in you and you believe in me
Somewhere down the road, we’ll find destiny
One day at time

One day you will go
Where no one’s gone before
One day what you learn
Will open many doors
One day you learn
Unity holds the key
If we learn from each other
We can rewrite history

Cuz there’s no place you can’t go
And there’s nothing you can’t do
There’s no reason to believe that your dreams can’t come true
If I believe in you and you believe in me
Somewhere down the road, we’ll find destiny
One day at time
