About this Artist

What you see is what you get with Christina Simos. Reminiscent of Tina Turner, this sassy lady sings from her heart and writes with her soul. Her songs chronicle her life - all the good, bad, and oh so dramatic. Born in Jamaica, Queens NY, with an instinctive feel for catchy, soulful grooves, Christina’s music is an infusion of R & B, dance, pop, rock and soul. Her lyrics are emotionally honest, sassy and heartfelt. “It’s all about the journey.” Christina says. “It’s about empowerment, connecting with others, finding your place and shining your light.”

Her first break was in 1999 on MTV as a finalist with the MTV Wanna Be a VJ Too Contest. She beat out thousands of eager VJs but didn’t win. It was a devastating blow for her. “I thought that I was finally going to get my break.” Christina says. “MTV brought me back to audition for an MTV NEWS VJ but the Universe had other plans for me.”

In 1999 Christina moved to West Hollywood to pursue her music. Over the last five years she has built a strong fan base in West Hollywood. She has performed at various venues throughout Los Angeles, Hollywood and San Francisco. Christina performs regularly at benefit shows and fundraisers raising money for Aids research and people in recovery. She is currently writing and recording music with Producer Eddie Hedges (Founder of Blessid Union of Souls) and singer/songwriter Michael Patrick Coughlin. Christina believes firmly in giving back to her community. She mentors at-risk youth and produces musical showcases for elementary children.

In the winter of 2008 Christina made her debut back to musical theater playing the Heat Miser in Misfits directed by Tom Pardoe. (Best in Drag) In the spring of 2009, she received rave reviews for her role as the Gypsy woman in Cirque De’ Amazed directed by Jonathan Slavin (Better off Ted). Her hit song “All About Me” written with Eddie Hedges was a finalist in the 2008 USA Songwriting Competition. In June 2010, Christina performed in front of thousands on San Francisco Pride’s Main Stage along with Rose Royce, The Back Street Boys, Martha and the Motels and Andy Bell. She recently finished shooting her first music video “So Many Times,” with Michael Patrick Coughlin. “I’ve overcome many obstacles to get here.” Christina says. “My journey has been painfully beautiful and I want to show that no matter your age or your past, if it is to be, it will be. No matter what don't give up.”
