"Review by Kevin Coughlin"

"A sparkling discovery at the Minstrel this Friday.

Say the word 'pure' and two things come to our mind: A beer commercial from a Rocky mountain stream, and the voice of singer Judy Collins. Time to add Christine DeLeon to that list." ... "In other words ... you don't have to head for the mountains to enjoy this pure treat!" - NJ.com (Morristown Green edition)

"Review of January Hiding"

"This New Jersey artist's rich soprano is eerily reminiscent of that of a young Judy Collins: Powerful, crystalline and assured. And, like a young Judy, she makes her voice the centerpiece of this debut recording by featuring sweeping legato ballads accompanied by simple strummed acoustic guitar (filled out by backing instruments). Christine's songs are uniformly upbeat in something of the Dar Williams style, thougth with a gentle Christian message. We would also look forward to hearing this voice used, as Judy Collins' has been, to interpret other writers' work." - Scott Sheldon - Sing Out! Magazine

Bio

Say the word pure and two things come to mind: a beer commercial from a Rocky Mountain stream and the voice of singer Judy Collins. Time to add Christine DeLeon to that list says MorristownGreen.coms Kevin Coughlin. With a voice often compared to the likes of Judy Collins, Dar Williams and Sean Colvin, Christine delivers her own well-written songs and those of her folk contemporaries with charm and conviction," as proclaimed by Mike Agranoff of the Minstrel Concert Series in Morristown. He goes on to say "Her brilliant voice and artful songs have made her a local hero which makes it easy to understand why she was chosen as a winner in the 2008 New Jersey Folk Festival Songwriting Competition and a three category nominee in the 2013 Jersey Acoustic Music Awards. Pure melody wore a smile and had a presence that was bigger than the stage. said Don Smith of the Fair Lawn Patch in 2010.

Christine has been quite successful crafting songs that stir the heart and its memories, from a young girl playing in a grandmothers jewelry box to the perplexing tragedy of September 11. Her 2007 debut CD, January Hiding, was described by Ron Olesko of WFDU Radio as a great, great CD its like a good book you just want to cuddle up with. Her 2012 CD called More offers much of what Christine does very well clever songwriting, catchy melodies and toe-tapping arrangements built around a voice which Scott Sheldon of Sing Out! Magazine describes as "reminiscent of that of a young Judy Collins: Powerful, crystalline and assured." Its a delightful collection of catchy original tunes that showcase her crystal-clear vocals and nimble lyrical skills proclaims Kevin Coughlin of Morristowngreen.com upon its release.
