Christine Donaldson

A bracing blend of folk, indie rock, soul, and jazz music, the unique and explorative characteristics of Christine’s sound are all united by her numinous voice and creative songwriting. Often described as cerebral and bittersweet, her lyrics are delivered with an honesty that binds her to the audience.

With her first EP released this Spring, Christine Donaldson has been playing shows across the West Coast, tickling the ears (and not-to-mention, the eyes!) of those who are lucky enough to witness the sweet, earnest nature of her performance. The endearing qualities of her live performance translate fluidly onto the EP, where her impressive background of musical studies shines through.

At the sprite age of 12, Christine fell in love with jazz music, starting to gig in middle school and then continuing to play guitar for her high school jazz band. At the same time, Christine started singing in a bluegrass band and developed a passion for folk music as well. Her home, San Francisco, provided a bustling musical community for each. Both were successful aspirations, as she was later chosen as the vocalist for the SFJAZZ High School All-Star band, and her bluegrass band is still a legend in her town to this day. After being accepted to the Jazz Studies and Music Industry departments at the University of Southern California, Christine found the courage to start writing her own music. With a couple more years left until graduation, Christine is making big plans to further develop her sound and to play as many shows as possible.
