"Versatile and Clever"

"With Christine Hoberg we're talking a very stripped down, but versatile and challenging voice with - in some tracks - very little else besides. It's drenched, versatile and clever..." - PaulGiovanni.com

"Sultry, jazzy croon"

"Christine Hoberg has a sultry, slippery, jazzy croon with nicely awkward edges..." - Indyish.com

"Unique"

"Her vocals ripple like a stream, bubbling up, gliding down, trailing off in some spots, tumbling ahead of themselves in others. The result is unique." - Maria Lockwood, Superior Telegram

"One of the most beautiful voices"

"Christine Hoberg has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard in a very long time." - Detroit Riot

"Butterfiles-in-the-stomach kinda feeling..."

"You get a butterflies-in-the-stomach kinda feeling while watching Christine perform...a feeling that those beautiful melodies are being sung just for you, and knowing Christine, they may just be." - DJ Walt Dizzo (KUWS)

"Nice is right..."

"Nice is right... Hoberg has a nice, mellow, vocally driven sound -- sometimes pained, sometimes more sassy and aggressive and sometimes just pretty. (The "pretty" is most fun in "White A**" when she sings about "All the sh**** things you've done to me.") I bet she's been compared to Norah Jones before..." - Christa Lawler, Duluth News Tribune

Bio

Christine Hoberg is a singer-songwriter from the Great Lakes region of the US, now making music out of Brooklyn, NY.

As a young child, Hoberg’s parents owned a radio station, KBQ100 (North Dakota) and many of Hoberg’s early memories were of time spent in her dad’s office while the Who and Fleetwood Mac was spun in the background.

Hoberg who took an interest in music, art, and dance from a young age, always had an artist’s spirit. Writing her first jingles as a toddler, she later picked up clarinet, guitar, piano, and dabbled in audio engineering as she made her journeys around North America and a short stint in Paris, finally landing in NYC.

Her second release, ‘Ugly’ (December 2010) is quickly picking up rave reviews with comparisons to Feist and She & Him. The NY Examiner said of Christine, ‘Her latest EP ‘Ugly’ dropped last week and I haven’t stopped listening to it since,’ & ‘Christine Hoberg is one to watch for in 2011’.

Hoberg’s first LP ‘Nice’ which she wrote, self-produced, & co-arranged (Adrian Robles via guitar/piano), was released in October 2008 while she was living in Ann Arbor, MI.

Hoberg recorded ‘Nice’ entirely a capella, using only a pitch pipe and metronome for reference. Later arranging and adding rhodes piano, guitar, bass, cello, and string parts on top of the bare vocal track. The credits are a complete mash-up of metro Detroit talent.

‘Nice’ mixes dreamy vocals and throwback jazz with cheeky shots at Hoberg’s exes. It has been described as ‘a mix of vivid orchestrations and gritty vocals’.
