"'process' - Christopher Norman interview and album preview"

Christopher Norman is the musical equivalent of a mad scientist. His music is the fruit of a never-ending process of experimentation, to the point where it almost seems like the experimentation comes first, and the song writing secondary. Sonically, most of his tones come from playing around on his Minimoog, and the gaps are filled with sound effects that were created from tinkering around with things like banging on pots and pans, maybe flipping a deck of cards, or what ever else he can find that will make noises that fit his fancy. Lyrically, Christopher is a journal type of guy – Pen and paper, jotting down stream of consciousness style whatever comes to mind. Over time bits and pieces start to come together like a puzzle, resulting in songs where each line has its own story and history behind it. - Lost In Sound

"TVD Premiere: Christopher Norman - Sacrifice"

Electronic producer/songwriter Christopher Norman utilizes an unconventional mix of warm sounds and ambient vocals over landscapes spanning the analogue and electronic. His newest album Process comes on the heels of several successfully commissioned remixes for Katy Perry, Chrome Sparks, and Newtimers. After proving himself a potent new re-mixer, he is now debuting his original material which is the first time he has stepped to the mic.

His single “Sacrifice” plays like out like a strong sedative for a bumpy road trip. Its escalating synth punches and “less-is-more” delivery could be likened to a punch drunk Daft Punk B-Side. The song reaches deep space around the two-minute mark, when the vocals become increasingly manipulated and a cushion of artificial and organic strings emerge to assist its final climax.

Christopher is obviously an extremely talented producer with in his prior work reaching critical mass. By stepping into the vocal booth from behind the board, he also displays a rare knack for melodic songwriting and an inflected delivery unto himself. A sound that is lush with space, context and beauty.

“Sacrifice” is taken from Christopher Norman’s full length release, Process in stores on September 30. - The Vinyl District

Bio

Christopher Norman is a producer, songwriter, and performer based in Austin, TX.  His extensive background in techno lends a lush sense of space and a unique perspective while his keen ear for hooks gives his songs a catchy pop sensibility. The result is an unconventional mix of warm sounds and soulful vocals over landscapes spanning the organic and electronic. His debut album, process, was released in September 2014.

During his tenure as a dance producer and DJ, Christopher was developing himself as multi-faceted performer and songwriter, incorporating those elements into his productions.  'EP1', his pop-oriented debut, fused all of those passions and set the perfect tone for the rest of his material: a strong focus on songwriting, soulful vocals, and sleek and spacious production. "Wanting" from 'EP1' was named one of Ann Arbor 107.1FM's best tracks of 2011. He followed up with 'EP2' and 'EP3', which were featured by Soundcloud on their community blog.

While juggling remix duties for the likes of Katy Perry, Chrome Sparks, and Stockholm superstars Newtimers (which to date has netted more than 2 million views on YouTube), he’s produced/mixed material for Oakland-based artist Hopscotch as well as spearheading folk artist Abigail Stauffer's second album "No Contradictions".  Other notable recent work includes producing crowdsourced music projects with internet personality Ze Frank and collaborating with "The Voice" runner-up Michelle Chamuel (aka The Reverb Junkie) on their "All The Pretty People EP" in 2012.
