Nowadays it is polluted with so much filth that it's hard to even turn on the radio without cringing in disgust at what is being pushed through the airwaves. With that in mind, it's good when an emcee comes along with a passion for producing quality music that is both uplifting and positive. One such emcee is a staff sergeant in the Air Force who goes by the name of Christ's MC. Knowing early on that God had a calling on His life, he was able to intertwine his love for hip-hop music into a ministry that has culminated in the release of his debut album titled Follow Me. Hailing from the great state of Texas, you would think that Christ's MC would have a dirty south flow reminiscent of Lecrae or Pettidee, but his flow is very heavily influenced by east coast emcees. Quite honestly, from listening to his album, you wouldn't think he was from Texas at all, but from somewhere on the Atlantic coast. And, it is with this east coast flow that Christ's MC is able to blend old and new school rhymes over some old school flavored production. With that in mind, what you get with this album are a myriad of songs that exhibit Christ's MC's lyrical versatility and uplift the Kingdom of God. Songs like "Makin' Noize" and "Holla" are the type of songs that show of his ability to be the kind of emcee that gets the crowd going. With both of these songs you can feel plenty of energy coming through his verses, even with his laid back delivery. You also get songs like "Follow Me," "3 Days" and "Salvation" that deliver a strong gospel message to the listener. Some of my favorites on the album would have to be "Gangsta" featuring Young Jabez, "Holy Fiyah" and "Survivor." If I were to summarize Follow Me, I'd say that it's a solid debut from am emcee who has plenty of talent and potential. I'll admit that at times the album seemed a little dry and lackluster, but the content in the songs is able to make up for that if you really give the album a good listen. With some more varied production and diversified flows, Christ's MC can definitely be an emcee to take note of. One of the things that I really did enjoy about this album is the old school feel that it had; it allowed me to reminisce and think back to the good old days of hip-hop. THE MAN:
Kevin Bullock, aka CMC, is a Christian Rap Artist in the state of New Mexico.
THE MUSIC:
CMC hit the hip hop scene in June 2006 with his debut album “Follow Me”, which showcased his versatile rap style and production. CMC’s second album, entitled “The Promise”, is scheduled for release in the summer of 2007.
THE MISSION:
CMC’s goal is to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to be all Christ has in mind for him, as Paul describes in Philippians, Chapter 3, Verses 12 through 14: “12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it; But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” CMC’s aim is to be an instrument that will be used to target the youth and share the message through the Holy Hip Hop movement.
THE NAME:
The name “Christ’s MC” (CMC), came from Kevin’s reflection that he is the sole possession of Christ, as are all of God’s children.
THE SHOWS:
CMC has performed and ministered at various concerts, festivals, events and churches nationwide in order to reach people and spread the message of the grace and love that can be found in Jesus Christ. He has been blessed with seeing many souls saved at these events. Events include:
