Bio

Christopher Hartl's way to electronic music began in his early youth. Rhythm and melody attracted him more and more. The first bought LP has opened for him the doors to deeper spheres of music; to inventiveness and sound variety. Paul van Dyk's "The Politics Of Dancing" (2001) was another guidepost to sophisticated electronic music with its diverse facets.
Intrigued by Trance and House for the first years, he got to know the styles Techno and Electro by the Mayday or the Loveparade - and loved them. Consuming a diversified spectrum of this music, he bought his first DJ equipment in the beginning of 2003. From then on he practiced diligently in his sleeping room, where he hardly had any audience. Instead he tried to take down prejudices against electronic music in the minds of the people around.
After passing his Abitur in 2005 he - henceforward Chris Voltaire - entered the clubs of his home town Berlin. With his varied, style crossing but homogeneous sounding sets he represents electronic dance music and reflects himself in them. In this first public year, in which he fulfilled his alternative service, Chris not only could gain important experiences in the DJ business, he also established some relations to clubs and organizers.
He always strives to forward this development. In spite of his study in computer science since autumn 2006 Chris Voltaire neither can nor will be able to let rest his music totally. - Therefor it is too important for him.

"What do I expect to achieve by that? - Actually nothing. But when I can show the people how beautiful electronic music is mostly, then I take enough pleasure in it."

Variety! Okay... But what does Chris Voltaire listen to and play precisely?
Even for Chris it is too much to play all styles of electronic dance music. Currently he likes Electro, House, Techno and Trance best. What will be in the future nobody knows. In his record collection one can find very different artists: Mirco de Govia, Gabriel & Dresden, Agoria, Monosurround, Markus Schultz, Paul van Dyk, Leandro Gamez, Chris Liebing, Alex Bau, Andy Moor, Nu NRG, Tiefschwarz, Booka Shade... Accordingly the spectrum of labels is alike. The Berlin residents Vandit or Fumakilla as well as Euphonic, Intec or Future Groove...

Extra-professionally, he looks beyond his own nose. Apart from other styles of electronic music like Drum&Bass, Synth-Pop or Ambient, he enjoys listening to Rock. Alternative Rock by Starsailor, Turin Brakes or Beth Orton, Heavy Metal by System Of A Down or some bands from Berlin and around. Main thing: good music.
Adding a pinch of Jazz, a trace of Black Music and a suggestion of classical music; et voilĂ : You will get a musical flavour that fits to each meal.
