Biography

In this time, of what seems to be an onslaught of modern-day musicians dismissing the merit in studying music theory and history, are a few innately gifted, well-studied musicians combining knowledge of and passion for music. In this elite group of musicians is pianist, composer, and vocalist Chris Wilson.

Christopher Wilson, a native of Cleveland Ohio who's music career started around two years old singing in the church choir and around the house. His mother decided to start his singing lessons at age 10 and piano lessons at age 11 at the Phyllis Wheatley Music School. At age 13, he began playing the piano in church. Soon after, Chris found myself playing in theater productions in various theaters such as the Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio. Soon following, Chris enrolled into the Cleveland Institute of Music. There I studied the piano and the clarinet. The Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA) is where he attended high school with a unique opportunity to studied choral, jazz ensemble, orchestra and jazz vocal music and music theory. At CSA, Chris found a natural love for Jazz and, after playing at the Tri-C Jazz festival, received a scholarship to the Jamey Abersold Jazz Camp at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. After high school, I attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. There I majored in music education. I studied music theory on the graduate level at the University of North Texas (Denton, Texas). Wilson is currently in the L.A. movin' up in the music scene in an attempt to pursuit his career in a major way.

Pianist, Keyboardist, Producer, Composer Christopher Wilson, or as he prefers to be called, Chris, is highly recognized for both his ability to perform, exceedingly well, Rhythm & Blues(R&B), Jazz, Rock, and Gospel. Having played with such notables as, R&B legend, Stevie Wonder, Vanessa Bell Armstrong Stevie Wonder Daryl Coley Marvin Sapp Byron, Jesse Jackson, Kirk Franklin, Beverly Crawford, Mississippi Mass Choir, Texas Mass Choir, Juanita Bynum, Martha Maninzzi, Jaguar Wright, Michael Speaks, Floetry, our time Stellar Award winner Byron Cage, and Grammy Award winner, Phil Woods, Chris demonstrates his diversity and degree of professionalism in his careful selection of artists with whom he has chosen to perform. Additionally, his debut CD entitled "Soul Searchin'" (2009) exemplifies a culmination of musical genres that influenced him down through the years, . Christopher Wilson, atop a history of training and respect for the heritage of music, is building a career of which he can be proud. Beginning with a solid foundation of critical knowledge in the field of music and selective collaborations with legends/veterans within the music business, he is strategically gaining access to successes relative to his personal journey in the field of music and one for whom we should watch to revitalize intelligent music.
