Chris Wind A.K.A Cykotic

Chris Wind a. k. a. Cykotik, was born Stevario Christopher Smith on December 24, 1986 in Vero Beach, Florida to Tammie Gipson and Steven Smith. After circumstances unknown to him until this day, his parents split up shortly afterward. His mother was remarried to Eric Windhom, and he was adopted as Stevario Christopher Windhom. Chris was an exceptional child, having learned to hold a pen at 11 months old and reading by the age of 3. Especially intrigued by nursery rhymes and Dr. Seuss books, he established an early affinity for rhyme. After his parents’ divorce at the age of 5, Chris would go on to move one or more times a year between the city of Macon, Georgia and his hometown Vero Beach. While living with his grandparents, Godfrey and Betty Gipson, he was exposed to a wide array of music ranging from swing to R & B. Believe it or not, his grandmother would be the one to turn him onto rap. Not a big fan of rap music, his grandmother loved Tupac Shakur, and was upset by his death the same year that her own mother had died 6 months earlier.Having focused on art and comic book illustration most of his life, Chris did not take his music seriously until discovering his relation to former Def Jam President, Kevin Liles at a family reunion. With newfound inspiration and the support of his family, a 16 year old Chris decided his future. The alias “Cykotik” (pronounced psychotic) carried over from his graffiti days in Florida.
