When you think of R & B, what comes to mind? Soul, funk, emotions, family, unity, politics, urban culture, outreach, humanity?
When you think of R & B, who do you think of? Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Prince, Rick James?
Now, you can add one more name onto that list; Chris Youngblood also known as YB.
Chris left the small town of Corcoran, California and headed to Hollywood as soon as it was physically possible. Once he laid his foundation, he quickly realized his new surroundings would be perfect for his talents. YB took to the stage at any and every given opportunity in an effort to turn his dreams into reality.
While gracing various stages and venues and putting on a true show, YBs love for live performing always shines thru. Whether watching YB perform at a local college or sharing the stage with a live band, you can be sure he will break a sweat entertaining the crowd and crooning to the lovely ladies.
His polished stage act has lead him to perform at The GIG, The Kitting Factory, Marla Gibbs Theatre, singing background for Leela James at the House of Blues, and Melba Moore on the east coast.
While on the east coast in New York during 2001, YB wrote and produced his self titled debut CD YOUNGBLOOD. The success of his debut CD led to the further success of his sophomore CD Mista Youngblood; A Collection of Songs, which saw some tracks placed in film and video games. Never one to remain idol, Chris remains humble and diligently working towards his big break while continuing to write and perform in Los Angeles.
To this day Chris appreciates and gains inspiration from his idols Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, and Prince. He is currently in the studio with friend and composer Damian Valentine and Philly producer Ryakin Rip working on and finessing his third solo project.
