Rockpopicana - it's the drink of the future! A lil' country, pop, and rock & roll all wrapped up in a good story. You don't need a video, the song'll walk you through it.

Biography

I grew up with and am addicted to story songwriters - Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello, and countless others. I try to emulate those greats by pulling people in with a great story and make them stay with a great melody.

My songs are currently being played at Regal Cinemas nationwide on widescreen radio and are featured in the Warner Brothers DVD release of Felicity (4th Season).

I've also placed in several national and international song competitions (Unisong 2000 & ’01, Billboard ’01, Great American Song Contest ’01, Songlounge.com ’03, VH1 Save the Music Song of the Year ’04). Most recently, I placed as a semi-finalist in the Dallas Songwriters Association international songwriting contest, and as a semi-finalist in the Tinderbox Music radio promotion contest.

But don't take my word for it, I could be a pathological liar - see what others say about my music:

“Chris Yurchuck finds the balance that seems so elusive for the majority of songwriters: he has a contemporary flair about him but also has deeper roots in more time-tested music. While one hears the influence of acoustic-based rock bands such as Dave Matthews and the Jayhawks, sprinkles of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits can also be felt…This CD (Dark Secret) truly sounds as good as anything that’s out there. I hope we hear more from Chris Yurchuck, because we need him.” – Musesmuse.com

“Often reminiscent of a time when artists were truly connected to their worlds, Yurchuck’s brand of live music brings warmth and honesty to a music scene engrossed in flashy hooks and pop star dreams. His no nonsense vocals are pure and untouched by studio tricks leaving a taste in your mouth of having just experienced the real deal.” – Dayne Blitz, IME Productions and Bookings

Lyrics

Senorita

Written By: Chris Yurchuck

Well there's this Senorita selling roses
On a one way street
I see her every weekend, caddy corner
Staring back at me
Well she's out every Sunday
For the faithful and faithless
The work seems rather empty
But she's there nonetheless, so God bless

God bless you senorita
Confess to what you need to
But who'll be there to listen
When your flowers aren't in season
So God bless, God bless you senorita

She's got a face like Hepburn and the body
Angles and bold curves
She's got her hair up perfect like a model
The roses should be hers
But the sidewalk is her runway
And an apron is her dress
Still I wonder who could miss her
But folks here could all care less, so God bless

Then one Sunday I approach her
And I ask for two
And then I hand one over and I tell her
"One for me and one for you
'Cause you're out every Sunday
For the faithful and faithless
And I thought I was the latter
But with you I'd pass that test, I bet,
so God bless"

Running Under Cover

Written By: Chris Yurchuck

You won't see me doin' what I used to do
I'm ridin' rusted rental cars, shakin' shadows in the dark
You won't hear me sayin' what I used to say
I'm causin' chaos on the lines, my tongues are dressed up in disguise

But I'm all right
I'm not crazy I just know about your crimes

I'm runnin' under cover
Hidin' underground
I'm playin' cloak and dagger
Turnin' inside out
I'm runnin' under cover

You won't know me bein' reckless like I was
I'm huggin' caution at my side like it's my abandoned child
You won't feel me comin' up behind
Persistence is your greatest greed but don't forget that I've got mine

I saw you with that knife
He pleaded for his life
And now you want mine
Runnin' under cover

Love Begins

Written By: Chris Yurchuck

Love begins when fear ends
There is no heartbreak when you dive in
Love begins when fear ends
There is no sorrow just might have beens
Don't follow the footsteps
That everyone gets lost in
You need to jump out of those shoes
And go barefoot in the nude

Love begins when fear ends
This is your mountain, your Everest
Love begins when fear ends
There's no instructions so baby just start climbin'
But don't follow the footsteps
That everyone gets lost in
You need to jump out of those shoes
And go barefoot in the nude

And it might not happen right
The first 10 times you try
But keep tryin', keep tryin'
You could be next in line
And love knows when it's time

Love begins when fear ends
It's never too late, only in your head
Love begins when fear ends
There is no pencils down please moment
Just don't follow the footsteps
That everyone gets lost in
You need to jump out of those shoes
And go barefoot in the nude

Love begins when fear ends
There is no heartbreak when you dive in
