"Live Gig Review"

“Often reminiscent of a time when artists were truly connected to their words, Yurchuck’s brand of live music brings warmth and honesty to a music scene engrossed in flashy hooks and pop star dreams. His no nonsense vocals are pure and untouched by studio tricks leaving a taste in your mouth of having just experienced the real deal.” - Dayna Blitz

"CD Review"

"Chris Yurchuck is a journeyman songwriter best known for his work's appearance on the formerly hip Felicity. Before you stop reading you might actually listen to his new disc entitled Coming Attractions. The unsigned Yurchuck, much like most of the songwriters included in teen dramas, is far better than the program on which he appears. Coming Attractions is a good foray into alternative country in a Jayhawks manner. It seems as if Yurchuck's dial got lost somewhere on a 70's AM station that was protesting disco--his songs are heavily influenced by that era's marriage of pop ambition and the remaining 60's folk feel. The only unfortunate find on the disc is the quick end. At a mere five songs I found myself thinking I was only halfway through an enjoyable listen when "Hourglass" brought the curtain down. Here's hoping that Chris will make an encore appearance."

"CD Review"

Chris Yurchuck finds the balance that seems so elusive for the majority of songwriters: he has a contemporary flair about him but also has deeper roots in more time-tested music. While one hears the influence of acoustic-based rock bands such as Dave Matthews and the Jayhawks, sprinkles of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits can also be felt...This CD (Dark Secret) truly sounds as good as anything that's out there. I hope we hear more from Chris Yurchuck, because we need him."

Being a New Jersey native and growing up in the 70s and 80s you'd think country music would be the last on the list of influences and genres that colored my world. And don't get me wrong, some Men at Work and Hall and Oates got in there too. But, with an older sister who loved Billy Joel and Springsteen and an old man who forced us to listen to Willie Nelson on every road trip, great storytelling got into my veins at an early age. It wasn't until I started playing out and hearing how country I sounded that I finally gave in and took a trip to Nashville. And I've been hooked ever since. Nashville has become my musical mecca - it's a community that welcomes with open arms and southern charm, that inspires with a class of songwriters who have no match, and intimidates for that same reason. So I try to bring the Nashville to the North; New Jersey has more country to it than most people give it credit for. But most of all, I strive to inspire listeners with my music as much as music inspires me.
