Bio
The band members come from all walks of life and from all over the world. We met each other in New York City through studying music at New School University. We have come together because we feel it is time for the merging of improvisation and heavier elements of the sonic landscape. We wish to bring instrumental/improvised music to an audience who are weary of such terms. All the members in the band have studied their respective instruments for many years and together form a sound that is quite its own. All members of the band perform or have performed with a number of other ensembles throughout the years, but creatively, Chubby Behemoth is the most exciting of them all. We are influenced by many types of music and it shows. The freedom, beauty , and harshness of Ornette Coleman and Peter Brotzmann, along with the simplicity and honesty of artists like Nirvana, Tom Waits. Throw in the noise element of bands like Lightning Bolt and Wolf Eyes, and you can begin to get the picture.
