"Our Brothers Keeper Aims to Make a Difference"

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A group called Our Brother's Keeper spreads hope to those who need it most through music. The group was launched by veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Charles Flanders, who records at destiny audio recording studio, calls music his outlet, rapping about his life and hitting rock bottom.

“I was fighting for custody of my daughter. I lost my house. I lost my car. I lost everything,” said Flanders.

Flanders, a veteran, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and he isn't alone.

He believes "devout orchestration" put him in the same place at the same time as Jeremy Ridge, who is also a veteran.

“I didn`t think that my life would ever get any better after coming out of the service. It just wasn`t going so well,” said Ridge.

The duo teamed up and launched an organization called Our Brother's Keeper, whose mission is giving hope where hope is needed.

“Our Brother`s Keeper isn`t just a symbol, it`s not just music. It`s taking care of your brothers and sisters that are next to you. And it`s not just military. It`s anyone,” said Flanders.

All music recorded sold for profit, benefits therapy programs for veterans and at-risk teens.

“It`s long hours. It`s not easy for us. We believe we can make a change,” said Ridge.

The pair says they won't stop until they reach those who need them most.

“If we would just take the time to sit down and talk to people who really need help; people that really just need a friend or someone to be there for them. I believe we could really change the world,” said Flanders.

Our Brother's Keeper will perform at High Noon Saloon in Leavenworth, Kan. on Saturday the 22nd at 9 p.m. - Fox 4 News

Bio

One of Chuck Sandz most proud moments in his life was the day he signed up for the Marines to fight for his country. Little did he know that those horrific experiences would lead him on a road to finding his true calling. After coming home from a combat tour in Iraq, Chuck Sandz was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, shortly after one of his closest comrades was killed in a second deployment to Afghanistan. Chuck Sandz spent a lot of his time trying to readjust back to civilian life and trying to find something that helped him cope with the traumatic events he witnessed in Fallujah. Although he tried a multitude of outlets for his recovery program only one ever truly seemed to work. Music.

Although Chuck Sandz began writing songs at 13, he decided to devote his life to pursuing his passion and his recovery. His ultimate goal for himself is create a music program built to help other veterans and adolescent youth in impoverished cities across the U.S. follow their dreams of working in the music industry. His latest album; recorded at Paramount Studios, led him to work alongside recording engineer Drew Chavez who has worked on major artists albums such as 2Pac, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Dixie Chicks, Mariah Carey and many more. With Drew’s help bringing Chucks unique vision to life, the ‘Reach For The Stars’ album was complete.

In ‘Reach For The Stars’ Chuck uses his experiences from the war to share a unique message meant to bring meaning back to hip hop and heal those who have the chance to listen. Although his style can be very serious Chuck also includes exciting tracks that bring people to their feet to celebrate. He has appeared on Boone Cutlers show the tipping point and been aired on Fox 4 news for his ideas to heal others through music. Although he is in the beginning stages of his career as a musician, the passion in his lyrics show just what it means to reach for the stars.
