A unique songwriter with a soulful and pleasing voice that you just got to hear!

Biography

Dig into the dirt of life with Michael Churton. His music speaks a rare truth that seeps into the soul of humanity---but tackling topics at the very core of our being takes an awareness that doesn’t just land on your doorstep…

Michael began his first relationship with a guitar at age 16---he moved on to lyrics two years later. As the musician and artist within him grew, so did his passion to learn and evolve. He searched for a universal connection to share with his audience---climbing Mt. Mulu in Bornea, jamming with local musicians in Havana, and eventually landing in New York City. Here he’s unleashed his creativity in countless venues like The Knitting Factory, Cutting Room, The Bitter End, C-Note, and at the Songwriter Hall of Fame Artist Showcase.

Ever since Michael Churton hit the music scene, he’s provided a fresh perspective and a spark that ignites every song he performs. He’s got the honesty of Bob Dylan, the soulfulness of Jack Johnson, and the charisma of Dave Matthews---and Michael’s bringing storytelling via song to a whole new high. What he shares with his audience is a unique sound and a genuinely heartfelt message. Michael’s music carries his listeners to a place of empathy, comfort, and unity---reminding us all that we’re not alone.

Lyrics

Runaway

Written By: Michael Churton

Into the night / baby let’s go driving
Take nothing with us, / We leave it all burning
Living and loving and / fucking and breathing
We’re free
A chariot awaits us / on the horizon
If we can last til dawn / We’ll find ourselves surviving
Little ride, little ride, little ride, little ride
We’re Free

We Ride them waves / Cashing fortunes we make
Let’s runaway / Into our love
Leaving the past and keeping our eyes in front

You can’t always get / but you can always want
You can’t have everything / Still, gotta have something
Oh Little ride, little ride, litte ride, little ride
We’re free

We Ride them waves / Cashing fortunes we make
Let’s runaway / Into our love
Leaving the past and keeping our eyes in front

Into the night
baby let’s go driving
Take nothing with us,
We leave it all burning
Little ride, Little Ride, little ride, little ride
We’re free

Weaver

Written By: Michael Churton

This girl that I met
I'm not soon to forget
Heaven said she is devine
This blond or brunette
That I call my Juliet
Changing my water to wine

She was a weaver
The weaver of my dreams
I do believe her
Every time that she touches me
Happiness is found upon her lips
From her cabasay and just one kiss

She didn't stay long she was here and gone
I barely had chance to say goodbye
Felt cheated and wrong because our love was so strong
Never would I ever deny

She was a weaver
The weaver of my dreams
I do believe her
Every time that she touches me
Happiness is found upon her lips
From her cup I sip, just one kiss

Weaver
Weaver
Weaver
Weaver

Weaving our lives to this dream
Believe in what always seemed impossible
My love been redeemed happiness is found
Upon her lips from her cabasay and just one kiss

Crazy Sorrows

Written By: Michael Churton

You came along
I knew right then
So confident, you were so strong
Beauty of an angel, Hallelujah, Amen.
You danced so well, we came so close
My heart's beating hell
Like heaven only knows
In your eyes I am blind in love
For the very first time I'm in love

Crazy sorrows I will feel tomorrow
Clouds are dark and lighting,it is definitely rain.
Crazy Sorrows I will feel tomorrow
My life will never be the same.

Shakespeare could not have written
a better tragedy
Do you disagree
If I am wrong, then tell me so
If this is all wrong,
Then your right don't know
Say you love me, and I
will give you what you need.

Moonlight on a dark and stormy night
Starbright, I wish I might just tell you
How I've fallen it's so true

If I am wrong, then tell me so
If this is all wrong,
Then your right don't know
Say you love me, and I
will give you what you need.

Crazy sorrows I will feel tomorrow
Clouds are dark and lighting,it is definitely rain.
Crazy Sorrows I will feel tomorrow
My life will never be
My life will never be
My life will never be the same.

How Long

Written By: Michael Churton

She turns her head
Raises up her eyes
So surprised to see
he is left and gone away
Leaving no words to explain
his reasons, no no.
She sits back in her chair,
So sad she's feeling
Not sure what to do
She just lays down
All around, sees these pictures of him
Memories of them
Running all through her head.

How long, Do I wait for you
How long, Do I stay always so true

Couple days gone by
Veiled in black she sees him,
Knowing to herself
this would be the last time
As the door lay open
She began to scream then
Singing and swearing
something like

How long, Do I wait for you
How long, Do I stay, don't you make me stay.

How long do I deny
How long can I lie
the sun has gone absent from the sky
In the blackness of this sea,
How long will it be
Until I find someone else for me
How Long

You dare me to forget you
How can I forgive you now
For making me feel so blue
Barely do I know your reasons
For your leaving all I know is my love was true.

She got a lot older
Then she got married
Still she keeps a picture
Of him to her heart
So as they'll never be apart
A sweet memory, she would never want to leave

Old Love

Written By: Michael Churton

Seeing you again
Conjures deep feelings within
My heart
I’m begging them not to start
Thought I was over you
Realizing finally we were through
Until You looked so beautiful still

Old love
Never goes away
It just stays, in the way

Fall kills all autumn leaves
Yellow and red they bleed to the ground
Roots keep hold as snow keeps coming down

Old love
Never goes away
It just stays, in the way
Old love
Never goes away
It just stays, in the way

Found myself someone brand knew
Just right then you came into the room
And I knew, My heart would always beat for you
Am I doomed?

Old love
Never goes away
It just stays, in the way
Old love
Never goes away
It just stays, in the way
