Ciclos de Quinta

Ciclos de Quinta is the collective effort of four musicians that have a very fresh take on a classical jazz quartet. Mizael Rivera (Flute/Saxophone), Ariel Rolon (Electric Bass) and Mario Colon (Guitar/Keyboards) met in a music fundaments and theory class at the Caribbean Conservatory of the Arts (Conservatorio de Artes del Caribe) in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2014. The three of us decided to start a project on January 2015 that consisted in trying not only to gain experience as musicians, but spread the joy of music with everyone, and with this in mind we invited drummer Diego Santiago (a university bandmate of Mizael) to join and with the four members on board we were able to create a jazz quartet which was given the name Ciclos the Quinta. The end result is a band with deep sizzling talent that delivers different styles of music to the jazz scene. With a reggae sound to the bass, the funky grooves and rock cues of the drums, a sweet bluessy sound from the guitar and the lovely boping jazz sound of the saxophone, Ciclos de Quinta creates a great fusion and gives a new sound to the traditional jazz standards, sound and style we aptly named Freestyle Jazz.
