Bio

CiKae, (pronounced "See-Kay") describes herself as an "Eternally blessed and dedicated Musician, Metaphysician, Writer, Actor, Director/Filmmaker, Dancer, Student, Teacher, Philanthropist, Philosopher, Model, Lover, and native of "Bronx Bomber-ville", New York..." CiKae, (Christy Knowings) has performed as a modern dancer (Dance Theatre of Harlem; workshopped with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre); actor (a series regular on Nickelodeons', "All That" [1997-2000]; several voiceovers for cartoons and commercials; and variegated roles on the off-off-stages of Broadway) and improvisational singer/songwriter since childhood. As she fell in love with the people and energy found in Los Angeles, her passion for sharing what she's coined, "Light-filled music", burgeoned. She began performing with Los Angeles based reggae band, Cipes and The People, recording background vocals for hit singles, "Free Me" and "Conscious Revolution".
She was then accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music's Vocal Performance and Music Therapy programs, with scholarship in 2007. She has also trained privately in vocal pedagogy with a top Professor of Voice (University of Southern California) in Los Angeles, and other esteemed instructors and mentors in the dialects of Jazz, Opera, and Musical Theatre.
As a solo artist, Cikae has already begun to excite audiences with her dramatically spirited performances. "Being",(a song she's dubbed her first "Soul-Folk-Funk ballad", written by her for voice and piano)will be featured in the upcoming film, Mother And Child, (starring Samuel L. Jackson, Naomi Watts, and Annette Bening) in 2010.
CiKae grew up listening to Phyllis Hyman, Tuck n' Patti, Angela Bofil, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Salt n' Pepa, J. S. Bach, Tchaikovsky, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, Tracy Chapman, Michael and Janet Jackson, A Tribe Called Quest, Sara McLaughlin, Simon and Garfunkel, Flora Purim, numerous Broadway tunes, her mother, and many others she feels contributed to her eclectic ear and taste for variety in music today.

Working to infuse her "Light-Filled Music" into the stream of Consciousness, CiKae integrates love of music with a love for people and healing through music: "All of my Art is a response to those who are open to immortal expressions of life. My offering of Melodious Exchange; a gift from the realm of the Divine, I share in everlasting thanks with the world." All vocals were written and recorded by CiKae for voice and piano.
