Cindy Cole Nelson

Cindy Cole Nelson discovered her passion for song-writing when she went from accountant to stay-at-home mom. After foregoing a health-scare with her youngest son, she felt the need to re-examine her faith. “Was there really a God? How could a loving God let a little baby suffer like this?” Well, God showed up in miraculous ways in Cindy’s life. By the way, her son was healed, but more importantly, her faith was reignited!

Cindy joined a bible study group that was reading, The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren. She got stuck on the question, “What do you lose track of time doing?” She couldn’t think of anything and admits was jealous of others in her group who clearly knew what their passions were. Despite feeling like her prayer was trivial, she began asking God to give her a passion. Not even a week or two later, she sat down to listen to an Eagles CD she had bought at a recent concert. The brilliant lyrics inspired her. Sitting on her living room couch, with a notebook and pencil, she began writing; “searching for a purpose….wishing for a passion….Lord please answer….please hear this song I sing…reveal Your plan for me.” She looked up at the clock. It was 2:00 am! She had lost track of time! God had indeed answered her "trivial" prayer by giving her a passion to write music! These words became the concept of her first song called “Searching For a Purpose,” featured on her debut album, “Ready To Follow.”

Cindy is able to take a simple concept and spin it in a way to make you think. Her honest lyrics come from personal experiences that she feels called to share. Many songs find their roots in Cindy’s ongoing struggles with worry and anxiety. “In Your Arms” is a tender ballad crying out to God to hold her like a child, rock her and tell her everything is going to be okay. “Not Gonna Worry” is a catchy bubbly song that gets stuck in your head, but in a good way, because it reminds you not to worry!

The subject of anxiety is one of Cindy’s most popular speaking topics. “I am amazed at how many people are also tormented by worry, stress and anxiety. I’m fortunate enough to have learned, many times over, the key to getting out of that rut. I love sharing practical tips, advice, and personal testimony to help people break free from this. Most importantly I love leading them to Jesus, their Prince of Peace.”

Cindy’s hope is that her music will inspire your faith in Jesus and prepare you to be ready to follow His lead in your life. “My Hero” is a song that beautifully tells what He means to her. To Him be the glory!
