Bio

Cindy started out playing folk and bluegrass music in the hills of southwestern PA as a teenager. Branching out as a musician and called by her youth and the times, she eventually grew away from her roots and played rock 'n roll music for many years professionally. She moved to NYC in her late 20's and recorded and played with many notable musicians, all the while perfecting her song writing abilities and stretching her vocal talents to new heights.

Eventually the music of her origins beckoned her back and Cindy temporarily set down the guitar to learn mandolin. Now proficient on both instruments, and having a solid song repertoire of bluegrass originals, Cindy has been performing regularly in the Central New Jersey area for several years now. She is a favorite at the bluegrass concert venue, Albert Music Hall in Waretown, NJ and BOTMA (Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association) in Little Silver, NJ.

Cindy's first bluegrass CD "The Road" is scheduled for release in June of 2012 and features some of New Jersey's finest musicians including Paul Unkert on bass, Ron Hall on guitar and vocals, Bob Walters on dobro and vocals, Tommy Stevenson on banjo, Gary Oleyar on fiddle ... and Cindy of course on lead vocals, mandolin and guitar. The CD presents almost all originals with a few cover/traditional songs .... most notably, the Bobbie Gentry hit of the 1960's "Ode to Billie Jo" which receives rave reviews from audience members when performed live. Cindy's originals run the gamut from true traditional in flavor to a "twist" on the traditional bluegrass genre. Her vocal style is powerful and soulful in the vein of Patty Loveless and Val Smith, and she has an affinity for the music of artists such as Becky Buller, Carrie Hassler and Rhonda Vincent writing with an out-of-the-box approach incorporating unique melody lines and intriguing, yet catchy lyrics. You should hear what happens to Jesse in the CD favorite "Jenny and Jesse"!

Cindy was nominated in March of 2012 for Top Bluegrass/Country artist in the Jersey Acoustic Music (JAM) Awards.

Live, Cindy delivers a captivating performance with memorable vocals you'll be talking about.
