Just to Be

Sometimes my back will rest on a spot
for which I don’t hold the deed
But the world is my home I’m never in need
I’m my safe place and my safe person
They say it’s okay just to BE

Some say “do this” some say “do that”
Some people expect you to please
Some make you feel good, some make you feel bad
The best are the kind, that in your worst time
Won’t tell you how you ought to be

There are bibles and books and sacred texts
And the flavors we’ve asked them to be
But there’s a sky and a moon and an ocean of goodness
I look and I see, and it’s just plain to me
Why some say “it’s okay just to be.”

Chorus:
To Forgive and love are the higher truths
How is it right to draw battle lines?
The answers are here inside…. you

-- BREAK (instr/ humming) --

While I was hiding my hidden agenda
I missed hearing the heralds of peace
But now I know, so there’s one place to go
Inside the soul, I always have known
How lucky to learn just to BE

Chorus:
To Love and Grow: it’s the higher truth
It can’t be right to draw battle lines
Your answers are there inside….you

Soon my back will rest on a spot
for which I don’t hold a deed
But the world is my home I’m never in need
I’ll go my way, with its eternal sway
How beautiful, JUST TO BE
