Biography

Cindy Ribet is a singer, songwriter and musician who plays the hammered dulcimer, fiddle, recorders and guitar as well as numerous other more obscure and interesting instruments. Coming from a childhood steeped in Traditional, Bluegrass and Gospel music, she has been singing and performing most of her life.
Cindy has won numerous awards for her poetry and songs as well as many awards for Hammered Dulcimer competitions. She has been playing the hammered dulcimer since 1987 and her effervescent enthusiasm is evident when she plays and teaches and is highly contagious. She has been the featured artist and teacher at Music festivals in a tri state area for over 15 years. But the greatest thril was being able to spend time playing and teaching for the first ever dulcimer festival in Ireland and busqueing throughout Southern Ireland with members of one of the bands she performs with.
As an independent artist she has recorded and marketed six recordings, four of which are now available in CD. Her CD, "GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME RELIGION" for years has been the number one CD seller in tourist stores along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Lyrics

Followin' Behind

Written By: Cindy Ribet

chorus)
Carolina or Tennessee, carry me back - to ole' Virginny.
Kentucky Bluegrass or Georgia's on your mind.
No matter where you go, I'm followin' behind.

The grass is always greener, on the other side of the hill.
But when you get there, the skies are bluer still -
somewhere else faraway- that's where you'd rather be.
I don't care where you go... that's where you will find me.

chorus

The Carolina mountains were beautiful last fall.
And I think Georgia fishin's got to be the best of all.
In Tennessee the people love to hear you sing your songs.
Where ever you go now, I'm tagging right along....

chorus - repeat

A Little More Love

Written By: Cynthia Ribet

There came a knock on the kitchen door
Every Thursday when supper was through.
And Grandma would always be ready
With some beans and a biscuit or two.
She'd hand it out through the Kitchen door,
She'd smile and nod her head.
Then she'd step back in and look at my momma
And this is what she said...
(chorus)
Love is not just what you feel,
Or something that you make.
Love is when you do what' s right
For someone else's sake.
And couldn't this world stand a little more love?
Couldnt we all use a little more love?

There came a crash in the dark of the night,
And I heard my momma cry.
And I knew my Daddy was drunk again
So I found a place to hide.
Then half the night, through the curses and cries
I huddled there under my bed.
But the next nightfall found Daddy in jail
While my momma rocked me gently and said....
(chorus)
Love is not just what you feel,
Or something that you make.
Love is when you do what's right
For someone else's sake.
And couldn't this world stand a little more love?
Couldn't we all use a little more love?

Bridge)
Generations come and go,
Powers rise and fall.
The line between what's wrong and right
We can hardly see at all.
But the kindness of my grandma and the courage of my mom
Taught me somthing that will always be true....
This world could stand a little more love.
We all could use a little more love. But...
Love is not just what you feel,
Or something that you make.
Love is when you do what' s right
For someone else's sake.
And couldn't this world stand a little more love?
Couldnt we all use a little more love?

Shouldn't we all show a little more love,
'Cause couldn't this world stand a little more love?
