"Cindy V"

Cindy V: an encourager
If you’re a fan of Joni Mitchell, Amy Grant, Ginny
Owens or Sara Groves then you will probably want to get
into the music of Aussie newcomer, Cindy V.
Like each of these successful artists Melbourne based Cindy V
has a way with words. And that’s not surprising when you realise
Cindy works as a part-time English and Language teacher and
balances that with a music career.
Cindy sees herself as a songwriter and a singer.
“I write songs that people can relate to,” Cindy said. “I would like
people to enjoy the music as well as the lyrics.”
Her debut album Scribe Me A Note is a collection of heartfelt
songs with deeply spiritual lyrics that convey complex truths in
an amazingly simple way.
“The title song is really special to me because I wrote it at a time
when I really wanted God to answer something I was unsure
about,” she said.
“I remember praying and asking God to write a letter to me telling
me what I needed to do about a particular situation.
“I think a lot of people can identify with being frustrated by what
seems to be God’s silence,” she said.
Singing and writing songs are things Cindy loves to do.
You’ll find her singing at “weddings, parties, anything” as the
saying goes, plus concerts, conferences and churches.
She is always looking for opportunities to sing. It’s just a part of
who she is.
Cindy V is performing at several Victorian locations in the next
few weeks including the Forest Edge Festival (10-13 March).
Her first radio single Scribe Me A Note is getting airplay on many
Christian stations throughout Australia.
“Whether it’s on radio or in concert I just want to encourage
people with my music,” Cindy concluded.

Bio

Cindy V is an extensively trained singer (Coached by Lindsay Field - John Farnham's vocalist). She has performed in a variety of genres from pop to blues , but her original music has more of a folk/jazz feel. Cindy's influences include singer/songwriters such as Brooke Fraser, Katie Melua, Sting and Crowded House. Cindy's music is unique as it crosses many genre boundries and is lyrically honest and meaningful. Her band plays simply with emotion and compells the audience to feel the depth of the song. Cindy began writing songs prolificly and performing at age 12 - but it wasn't until much later that she started gigging. Cindy's first album is a collection of songs that reflect a spiritual understanding of her place in the world. In Feb 2008, Cindy will perform at The Botanic Gardens which has been widely advertised accross Melbourne. Her 2nd album is due out in April 2008.
