Bio

Originally established in Kalamazoo Michigan circa 1995, Circus McGurkis was quick to jump into the powerful music scene of Kalamazoo. Andy Taylor, who studied percussion with Jazz great Billy Hart, is the backbone of Circus McGurkis. Jeremy Sterling leads the band with his strong voice and authoritative guitar sound. Cutting their first self titled album in 1996, this album contains the exotic blend of rock rhythms and powerful vocals that distinguishes Circus McGurkis as an idiosyncratic group.
Circus McGurkis first received wide recognition when the songs 'Canvas' and 'Highway 96' were included on Aris' Big Disc featuring top Michigan Bands. Their follow up album, "Crisis on Jupiter" (1998), featured a more robust blend of hard rock/funk and authoritative lyrics, which continues to find its way into shuffle playlist 12 years later.

In 2008, the band found a new home in Chicago and added new bassist Steve LaPointe. Circus has taken on a new resonance of power, punch, and eclectic rhythms that pushes their Rock /Funk influences to new levels. Their creative side is in full bloom and a new album is in the works for late 2010 release.
