Bio

Stefano Bellotti, aka CISCO, started out back in 1992 as the singer and leader with the band Modena City Ramblers: great concerts, events and more than 700,000 records sold. Concerts all over the place, venues of every hue, audiences of all shapes and sizes: rambling from Big music Festivals celebrating Ireland with Van Morrison and the Cranberries , Rocking in Naples with Deep Purple and Primis, then with Manu Chao and Ska-Po in Bologna, then on to Piazza San Giovanni in Rome for the mammoth 1st May concert for 4 years running, for an audience of more than 500,000. Then off again to open shows by the Pogues, Shane McGowan, The Chieftains and Goran Bregovic. The Ramblers gigged all over Italy and the best part of Europe in more than 1200 events in 15 years together.
Over the years The Modena City Ramblers were envolved in high-profile projects with artistes like Francesco Guccini, Moni Ovaia, Bob Geldof, Piero Pelu’, the folk rock band Bandabardo’, Billy Bragg and Paolo Rossi, just to mention a few, plus literary/music events with Luis Sepulveda, Daniel Chavarria, Paco Taibo II, Pino Cacucci, Carlo Lucarelli and Stefano Benni.

By 2006 Cisco was going solo and on September 1st 2006 his first solo album La Lunga Notte ( the long night) was released for Mescal/Universal, selling 15000 copies, qiute a success considering the ongoing disaster of the italian music market!
Cisco is not an easily self-satisfied artiste, and his need to comunicate pushes him beyond the boundaries of the music business. Stefano gigs and tours, and at the same time is envolved in social campaigns in and for Africa and Romania, high–profile public debates and busker street binges.
He follows instinct and reason with the same intensity , never inclined to accept comfort and amenities, thus earning the nick-name The Mule because of his stubborness to follow his convictions unheeding contrary advice if he thinks he’s doing right, which he is, more often than not!

In 2006 he meets Chiara, a young roman doctor and in 2008 their son Ettore Olmo is born.

Cisco changes label, passing on to the small , indie Milan/Genoa based folk-rock label UPR , turning away offers from bigger companies with more clout.
On September 5th 2008 Il Mulo (The Mule) is released for UPR/edel. The album reaches the top 20 immediately, and the presentation tour goes to show that the MCR ex-leader’s feeling with the audience is as strong as it was before in his new solo career, due to his in-born ability to rev up the audience by galloping passionately through hits like “le clan banlieu”, or the new “Mutsumesc” and then enchant listeners with moving ballads such as “sotto le nuvole” (under the clouds).

40 concerts from October through March 2009 followed the presentation tour and now Cisco has been invited to take part, this time solo, in one of the most important Italian yearly music events: Il concerto del 1° Maggio, The May 1st Concert, in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome.
