"Golden Islands single review"

Citadels are dipping and soaring through what can only be layers of peach and pink coloured clouds on route to dropping us off in sweet oblivion - Disorder Magazine - Disorder Magazine

"Golden Islands single review"

Using a combo of uplifting melodies and handclaps they entice you to a dreamy place full of honey coated clouds. A place where ‘anything is possible’ and there’s little more you can do than dig in and enjoy the ride. - Artrocker Magazine

"Levis Ones To Watch Show (Live Review"

Dreamy London five-piece Citadels, who have provoked inevitable comparisons to Oklahoma psychedelics The Flaming Lips, take the evening in an entirely different direction with their uplifting, multi-instrumental synth-pop. Exuberant frontman Stef Ferguson shares vocals with the angelic Lucy Taylor (keyboards and flute) who was plucked from the Barnet Symphony Orchestra and has also played with MGMT. It shows - she seamlessly moves from keyboard to flute to percussion and back again, maintaining an admirable level of composure throughout. After a particularly haunting and beautiful vocal performance from Taylor, Ferguson remarks “bet that made your balls tingle”, to cheers of assent from the rapt crowd. When he urges us, in the jubilant chorus of recent single ‘Golden Islands’, to “follow me, to a place of dreams”, he is almost impossible to resist, and with this band’s admirable talent and chemistry it is difficult to believe that they are only two years young - The Fly Magazine

"Levis Ones To Watch Show"

And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, Citadels staked a claim for Ones To Watch headliner of the year. Just two songs into a majestic. gorgeous set and it's clear they have huge, huge potential. 'Golden Islands' captured their unique sound perfectly. With fuzzy, intricate guitars and lush, silky vocals, they entwined to showcase a complex cocktail of thrilling, sugar-laced melodies . - Levis Website

"Golden Islands single review"

Citadels walk the line between The Flaming Lips and MGMT with aplomb. While most bands are happy to jump onto the 80's revival bandwagon, this lot step closer towards the off-beat surreal pop of Black Moth Super Rainbow, or perhaps The Unicorns.

Bio

Formed in 2008 of Bramble, Jimmy Lazers, and The Sunchild Lucy, they quickly rose above the throng of London bands with the release of
their Animals EP. With strong support from BBC 6Music Channel 4, and The Fly
they
began headlining venues around London and beyond with a blistering live
show
reviewed as ‘carnivalesque’, a ‘heaven-bound dream-laced excursion’, and
'impossible to resist'.

Moving effortlessly between the anthemic and the intimate, they gained
fans
across the UK culminating in the release of their debut single proper,
‘Golden Islands’, on Friends vs Records in late 2009. Critics described it
as ‘glistening art-pop’ to which ‘there’s little more you can do than dig
in and enjoy the ride’. Having just been tipped as Ones to Watch by Levi’s,
they have an impressive string of dates booked for the rest of the year
and
a tour on the horizon for early 2010. With another single dropping in
January, their own club night launching in December, a burgeoning remix
catalogue, and an album next year, there’s never been a better time to
enjoy the ride. See you in the front row.
