Citi Chooppa’s
Citi Choppa’s was founded by Jessie Jenkins (29) A.K.A LordJay in 1999. Members include Astria Robinson (28) A.K.A KeWee and Justin Surpa (23) A. K.A. Sheisty Boi. Influenced by the south Citi Chopp’s has earned a place in local underground music as trendsetters and leaders.
Jessie as the founder and the C.E.O. of his own production/ record label “ Sold Up Productions Inc.”. Has credited his musical genius and admiration to the south with artist such as Three 6 Mafia, Pastor Troy, Scarface, Pimp C, and Bun B, just to name a few. In his production you will hear a lot of down south influences. Jessie started of his musical journey at the age of nine experimenting with composing beats with his older siblings, and time moved on his talent also grew and he found his own sounds in Crunk and hip-hop. Mainly focused as a producer he began to create groups that needless to say failed until now.
In 1999 Jessie Jenkins and Astria Robinson created the name that everyone will soon come to love “Citi Choppa’s. Jessie and Astria are the two founding members of Citi Choppa’s Astria as the only female in the group has held her ground and shown other male artist that she is a force to be reckoned with. Astria came to love music at the age of twelve as an R&B singer until the age of 18 when she met Jessie and that began her musical journey as a rapper. Whit influences such as Chicago’s own Da Brat, Shawwan, and Lil Wayne she has developed the talent to be flawless. She is proud to call herself the “ Hardest Working Female Rapper Alive”
Justin Serpa joined Citi Choppa’s in 2006 as the youngest in the group he was the clean canvas that was created. With guidance from Jessie as a friend and as his producer, Justin has demanded and earned much respect as a Choppa.
Citi Choppa’s started stage performing in 2006 with their first performance in Elgin, IL with other local talents. As of 2009 the have performed at hundreds of venues in the local region of Illinois. Citi Choppa’s have done many collaborations with many artists including Bo Deal, A.K. Billionaire of Do Or Die, and Jak Frost, and needless to mention all of the local talent that they have done collaborations with.
With hard work and dedication to their music they seek a major record deal to bring them national recognition and to become one of the best the music industry.
