The best kept secret in music

"the music is amazing"

Neat little repeating guitar riffs, huge fuzzy walls of sound, a spaz-freak genius drummer, and the occasional hot-rockin' glockenspiel characterize local quartet Citizens Here and Abroad. The band is one of those touched by the deus ex machina of television's The O.C.: Its song "Appearances" was featured on the show in November. More important, the music is amazing — tight, innovative, and modeled on the best of early-1990s songwriting, such as Sonic Youth or My Bloody Valentine. Frontwoman Adrienne Robillard's haute shoegazer vocals remind a lot of people of Lush, and the band seems up to the task of its impending success, having already logged some international touring. A new album is rumored soon; in the meantime, jump over to and check out a gorgeous video (for "You Drive and We’ll Listen to Music") starring a Cadillac. - SF Weekly
