Bio

It all began in 2006 when Jon Weisberg, a year after parting ways with Epitaph Records breakout artist ‘From First To Last,’ started writing songs the way he had always wanted to, a product of himself and the sum of his influences. From the grit and intensity of punk and metal to the songwriting and melodic presence of alternative rock, City Archaic was born.

Jon wrote songs without the benefit of a singer for over a year until it was time to search for the voice of the project. There were several auditions, but the fit was never quite right. In late 2007, through mutual friends, Jon met Ace Alexander who, at the time, was lead vocalist for up and coming band ‘Amelie,’ but still had interest in City Archaic. After several writing sessions together, Jon knew that Ace was the perfect fit and Ace accepted his invitation to join the band.

Jon's style of musical songwriting worked perfectly with Ace's style of vocal writing and performance. Although they came from different musical backgrounds, the culmination of their influences worked very well in the songs they wrote together. From the heavyweight anthem songs of "Undone" and "Flux," to the love and loss ballads of "Come Around" and "Bruised," they knew they had something special and that they would not stay within the confines of any specific genre.

After countless hours of hard work through most of 2008, City Archaic produced their debut album, entitled "Live For Today." The album was recorded without any label backing or outside financial support.

Recently, the lineup was solidified with the addition of rhythm guitarist Fred Scott, bassist Adam Barnett and drummer Mike McGarity. Now with a full lineup, City Archaic is set on making a name for themselves as one of the top breakout bands to come out of Los Angeles.
There had been several auditions, but the fit was never quite right. In late 2007, through mutual friends, the band met Ace Alexander. At the time, Ace was already in a band of his own, but still had interest in City Archaic. After several writing sessions together, both Jon and Chad knew that Ace was the perfect fit. Luckily for them, Ace accepted their invitation to be their lead vocalist.

As time went on, it became apparent that Weisberg's style of musical songwriting worked perfectly with Alexander's style of vocal writing and performance. Although they came from different musical backgrounds, the culmination of their influences poured beautifully into the songs they wrote together. From songs like "Undone" and "Survival" which have a heavy sound with a melodic, but 'in your face' vocal sound, to songs like "Bruised" and "Come Around" which show a softer and more personal side of the band, they knew they had something special.

Finally, after countless hours of hard work and what took most of 2008, City Archaic recorded their debut album entitled "Live For Today," and it was done without any label backing or outside financial support. The album is available on iTunes, Amazon, and several other digital music retailers along with a limited edition physical release.

Recently, upon the departure of bassist Chad Crews, the lineup has been solidified with the addition of rhythm guitarist Fred Scott, bassist Adam Barnett and drummer Mike McGarity. Now with a full lineup, City Archaic is set on making a name for themselves as one of the top breakout bands to come out of Los Angeles in years. Come see what all the fuss is about, you won't leave disappointed.
