Bio

CITY BOI & JASE

Born with aspirations of becoming a star, Senaca Phillip Fortune p/k/a “City Boi” always pushed himself and put his talents to work. After a major injury ended his dream of playing professional football, free time aided him in discovering his “gift of gab”. Influenced by hip hop greats such as “Big L”, “Tupac”, “LL Cool J”, and Jay Z, City Boi started to perfect his lyrical abilities. On his journey towards discovering himself and his talent, he also came to realize that he possessed another gift which was his ability to spit rhymes “off the top” of his head.

Then you have Jason Vanterpool p/k/a “Jase” who completes this dynamic duo. Unlike City Boi, Jase always had big dreams of becoming a singer at an early age. Jase began his music career like many other singers do, by performing in his church choir, singing in a quartet and playing in the high school band. Singing seemed to be an innate ability for Jase and it came to him easier than anything else. Thanks to his Caribbean upbringing and strong American influence, Jase has become extremely versatile in his lyrics as well as in his flow. His sense of rhythm stems from his love of R&B, reggae and hip hop. The question is how did these two cross paths?

City Boi was actually in the process of writing one of their hit records - “Runway Chick” and needed a singer to sing the hook. Having heard about Jase and knowing that he had a recording studio setup in his apartment, he contacted him. Coming together on this first track, their melody and flow immediately clicked. As they say, the rest was history.

A year and a half later in 2008, now collectively known as “City Boi & Jase”, they signed with Arcane Records, Inc., a label founded and owned by Valerie Dupont, Ghislaine Ladjouan and Bob Celestin, a prominent entertainment attorney/manager known for working with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Petey Pablo, City High and others. Shortly after, City Boi & Jase hit the studio to begin work on their debut album.

In the process, City Boi & Jase recorded their debut hit single “Body Talk”. “Body Talk” is in the process of being serviced to radio and has been well received. City Boi & Jase have been able to get “Body Talk” on the radio in their home city of Miami, FL as well as Augusta, GA, Omaha, NE, Hartford, CT, etc. They have been extensively performing at private parties and popular Miami nightclubs such as Club Mansion, Opium, etc. and have been developing quite a following.

Their music is female friendly and dance floor ready! City Boi & Jase are ready to share their musical message to the masses. Along with their big dreams of becoming a huge success in the world of music, comes their passion and dedication to making that dream a reality. City Boi & Jase have hit the ground running and won’t stop until the world knows their name.
