"City Calm Down - Rabbit Run"

This is probably my favorite track right now, so I'm particularly excited to share it with you here. "Rabbit Run" is the brand new track from Australian band City Calm Down. While this is certainly not the first time we've covered this amazing act, it's the first single from their highly anticipated debut album In A Restless House.

I have a planet-sized soft spot for this type of vocals: rich and slightly retro, with a depth and dramatic theatricality that we don't hear very often.

City Calm Down has been kicking around for a few years, slowly gathering a solid fanbase with their live shows and their 2012 EP Movements. Since signing to local tastemaking label I OH YOU (Violent Soho, DMAs, Montgomery), they've been hard at work crafting their debut album. If this track is anything to go by, we're in for something truly dazzling.

In A Restless House drops on September 11. - Indie Shuffle

"City Calm Down - Rabbit Run"

Instead of rushing to get new music out after their EP Movements dropped in 2012, Melbourne quartet City Calm Down chose to take their time in the studio, meticulously honing their sound until it was perfect - and by the sound of their new single 'Rabbit Run', it was well worth the wait.

It comes from the band's highly anticipated debut album In A Restless House, out on 11 September via I OH YOU. With a vigorous bass line, explosive guitar riffs, and Jack Bourke's deep, distinctive vocal register, it's like an Interpol + Editors lovechild, and you can stream the track below. The band are playing a one-off show in Melbourne on 10 July at the Northcote Social Club as well. - The 405

"Song of the Day: City Calm Down - Rabbit Run"

When I first heard Melbourne 4-piece City Calm Down's new track, 'Rabbit Run', I was overcome with early 80's nostalgia. From the atmospheric synths, out front bass, and the deep vocal delivery, this song reminded me of something out of England in 1984. And I like being whisked back to those days, back to simpler times. After this taste, I'm anxious to hear what the rest of their debut full length holds. In A Restless House has been three long years in the making and will be released on I OH YOU Records on September 11th. Until then, stream 'Rabbit Run' with me. - Aimless Skylarking

"City Calm Down - Rabbit Run"

After their debut EP, Movements, in November 2012, Australian band City Calm Down won hearts and plaudits alike. The singles "Pleasure & Consequence" and "Sense of Self" followed, along with tours supporting alt-J, CHVRCHES, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

"Rabbit Run" is the first release since the band returned to the studio to work on their first full-length release. If you're into New Order-esque bass and synth-driven indie-rock with a lyrical delivery and frenetic energy reminiscent of Frightened Rabbit (literally can't think why that specific reference would come to mind during a track called Rabbit Run...) this is for you. And if not, this is something you should maybe consider getting heavily into... - Record Rewind Replay
