City Reign from Manchester have been making quite a few changes. One, they have a new Web site, www.cityreign.net, which they promise will be filled soon with all sorts of multimedia. (Ooh.) Two, they have a new drummer, Duncan Bolton. Three (this isn’t really a change but instead something to look forward to), they’ve got a new EP coming out in November called ‘Numbers for Street Names’, which will be released on the band’s own Car Boot Records.
Okay, so you’re probably wondering why I’m harping about all this stuff on the MP3 of the Day feature. Just getting to that part. As a special thank you to their devoted fans, they’re giving away their track ‘Anchor’. Download it below. - There Goes The Fear
City Reign are an encouraging rock band from Manchester. Their 2nd single “Out In The Cold” is being released on January 22nd via Car Boot Records. They sent it my way and I was immediate drawn in. It’s a well written rock piece that is easy on the ears. For a young band they sound polished and ready to go. I’m impressed.
The band are allowing me to share a mp3 of “Out In The Cold”. Get it below, and check out it’s music video right after it. - We All Want Someone To Shout For
Fans of Yuck and Dinosaur Jr will approve of CR's anthemic, grunge. A million failing garage bands will ask why. - The Independent

Bio
The song writing pair of Chris Bull and Mike Grice met 4 years ago at a Ryan Adams concert at the Manchester Academy, shortly after they had both moved north from London. Having spent some years writing and playing in bands together, they formed City Reign, taking the name from an Adams song, ‘City Rain, City Streets’.
The early days saw them cut their recording teeth recording some demos with Grammy nominee Dan Parry in London’s Metropolis Studio. These sessions were influential in helping the band develop the strong guitar sound.
The band spent some time building up a back catalogue, and gigging themselves into a tight live unit. They have since set up their own indie label ‘Car Boot Records’, and released debut single ‘Making Plans’ in September 2010. Considering the shoe-string budget, the band enjoyed great success. Steve Lamacq listed them among his favourite new bands during 2010’s In The City Festival.
The band released follow up singles ‘Out In The Cold’ and ‘Daybreak’ earlier this year. The songs received great praise amongst bloggers and online press, including a recommendation from The Independent.
The band will release their EP ‘Numbers for Street Names’ in November, and will be playing a set of dates throughout the month to support the release.
