There are few things we love more than drummers who sing and music videos that show the band performing. When we came across Canadian rockers CIVILIANA, we felt like we may have hit the jackpot. For “Carry A Light”, not only do they have a vocalist behind the kit, but the video is stylish and energetic, with a perfect mix of guitar echo and electronic layers. “Carry a Light is about the mental burden that is left after a separation, shares the band. “The eagerness to move on is stunted by memories and romantic withdrawals left behind from past lovers”.

CIVILIANA are set to release two more tracks this year and already creating major buzz for their indie alt rock sound that is layered and expressive. - Ear to the Ground

“Never ones to back down, CIVILIANA’s single ‘Carry A Light’ is quite the demonstration for what makes the band, tick. ‘Our artistic integrity is based on authenticity and simplicity,’ Calen Trentini, lead vocalist stated… Indeed, ‘Fresh & Original’ is always the catch of the day for the band. Sexy and never out of bounds, the lyrical diversions cast a wide light upon the listener. with Adam Wilson, Spencer Daley, and Daniel Ponich, completing the CIVILIANA formula, your sonic experience never gets old.” - Come Here Floyd

“CIVILIANA have a great sound, perfectly passionate and simultaneously gifting listeners the uplifting groove and hit of a well-crafted rock classic.” - STEREO STICKMAN

‘Carry A Light’ had me hooked from the second I pressed play and initially reminded me of all the things I love about 90’s/00’s hard rock bands… A deliciously dark and twisted tune that is unrelenting in its attractiveness.” - WHEN THE HORN BLOWS

Bio

Influenced by the organic sound and artistic freedoms of the alt-rock genre, CIVILIANA brings
an unfiltered sound laced with raw emotion and primal physicality to their music and shows.

The origins of CIVILIANA began in a high school band class in Kelowna, British Columbia,
Canada. It was there that aspiring drummer Calen Trentini met future bassist Spencer Daley. As
they learned their chosen instruments side by side, they soon formed a duo before adding their
friend Adam Wilson – a guitarist from a neighbouring high school – into the mix.

After high school, the trio went their separate ways before reconnecting in Vancouver as adults in
2015. CIVILIANA was formed a few months later with Calen’s potent vocals and kinetic drumming
skills anchored by Spencer’s technical aptitude on bass and keys along with Adam’s supporting
vocals and seamless songwriting fusion of pure alt-rock with modern electronic influences.

Feeling empowered to turn their shared musical passions into a professional pursuit, the group
recorded their first EP Out the Window in 2016 with producer and former high school classmate
Daniel Ponich. This collaboration proved to be serendipitous as Daniel subsequently joined the
band, providing guitar, key, and percussion elements that proved to be the group’s missing link.

From there, CIVILIANA sent their new rough demos to award-winning producer Ryan Worsley
(Dear Rouge, Said The Whale, Sophia Danai), who along with co-producer Matt Di Pomponio
developed the group’s upgraded sound – an emotionally raw and clean electronic sound drenched
in pure rock ‘n’ roll.

CIVILIANA emerged from the studio with a trio of new singles for 2019 that will offer listeners a
visceral listening experience into themes of loneliness, isolation, and ultimately understanding –
all created with the band’s own authentic originality, but continuously blended with the
traditional elements of the alt-rock genre.
