CJ Barth knows music! From early age, it has been a passion for her, moreless, an "obsession"! She began picking out songs on piano when she was 3. She started playing piano when she was in 1st grade, writing her first classical sonatina at age 10. She studied piano, voice and organ in school, played all through H.S. She continued on with music, studying voice and organ at the University of Iowa. She received her Bachelors of Music Degree in Music Education, and is currently, a public music teacher, private voice and piano instructor, songwriter and arranger, directs an adult church choir, founded a Christian/Rock band in which she writes for, and performs with various secular bands and artists. With her gift of being able to "play by ear", musical theory background, and the ability to transpose music in any key, she has been "unstoppable" with endless musical opportunities. Her music is "diverse", well-received, and just waiting to be "discovered"! In addition, she has written musicals for elementary and middle school age, including her latest, "Choices", with Taylorsville Elementary School where she teaches, in 2008. Just waiting to be published, the musical has a sound track, and has "changed" the persona of the old "sing-songy" elementary musicals, (kids now-a-days want to "rock"), to one with "edge", "rock-out" mentality, strong message, diverse music , current issues affecting kids. The musical incorporates the styles of: southern rock, pop, rap, and rock- music kids cannot only relate to, but parents, too,. The kids loved to perform the music and was well-received by audiences. CJ enjoys performing for charities, churches, clubs, weddings, private parties, corporate parties, receptions, Christmas parties, etc. and also loves to do "Sing-a-longs" when the opportunity arises (her experience in playing piano bars). She can perform covers when needed, in all styles, and almost, all musical eras in addition to her originals. Although trained classically, CJ enjoys singing both Christian and secular music, which features her "blues"or "rock"style voice (some say is "sexy"), a result of many years of abuse teaching in the elementary music classroom-but having a great time, doing it!)
Barth has also had radio play success, done EP's for charity events, and her hope is to "get the music out there" to make a difference! Her motto is: "Make a difference...because we can!" As musicians, we underestimate the power we have to change the world and make it a better place! She currently has a music ministry (non-denominational) called, "Scriptures, Stories and Songs", which she is promoting in the churches, Christian festivals, service groups, soldiers, prisons, colleges, etc., and hopes to release a cd soon from it, soon. She has written music for commissioned work (privately), and "commercials". She looks forward to co-writing with other songwriters, meeting other "driven" musicians sharing the same passion, to work with, and writing for special projects. She is motivated to continue writing musicals, (including a rock/opera someday), get her music into films, TV Shows and movies and "conquer" the music industry with "positive" and "quality" music!
