Bio

With the release of his Sophomore CD titled, T.Y.T. Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Carl L. Carr , better known by his stage name “CL” returns. After a six (6) year hiatus , the Newark, NJ native is back with a fresh new sound that’s

sure to satisfy his Gospel fans, and gain music lovers interest worldwide. The Eleven (11) track disc captures the veteran Songwriter/Producer at his best, as he takes us on a musical adventure without boundaries. I’ve been doing this music thing for a minute CL laughs and explains. Weather charting on Billboard’s Rap & Hot 100 “All I See” or movie soundtrack Kazaam Key To My Heart” , to the release of his debut CD “Redeemed”, the ride has never been boring, bumpy, but never boring lol.

I’ve grown so much since the release of “Redeemed” CL continues, in all phases, Spiritually, Musically, Vocally, becoming a better husband, father, friend etc, just  better, he laughs again. Musically and Vocally, on my first CD, I admittedly tried to please too many people, and somewhat lost who I am in the process. I didn’t like the direction things were headed, and needed to let God fully take control. Enter T.Y.T. his latest CD, a dynamic collection of songs that reveals his true artistry. CL: From the time I started playing piano growing up in church,  melodies always  came naturally. Early on when I signed my first Publishing deal with BMG, I was known as a POP Lyricist with a Gospel flavor, and some of that was missing on the “Redeemed CD”. On the new CD, I was able to get back to that, and explore some new things as well. “Today”, you’ll hear songs that’s relevant  to what’s happening today. “Yesterday”, songs that will cause you to reflect on where you’ve been, songs that have true meaning. “Tomorrow”, songs that project where his style of music will sound like in years to come. The CD also delves into personal situations wherein transparency is evident, as he talks about almost losing everything, Home, Cars, wife sick unto death, etc. However, the CD  triumphantly soars with instant classics like “Winner” I Made It” & the Acoustic laden “I.O.U.

CL’s desire has always been bridging the division through his gift, between the traditional approach to Gospel or Inspirational music and being on the cutting edge. There’s so much more to Christ than what we’ve allowed him to be “CL “ states. I’m only concerned with what’s pleasing in his sights,  other opinions are muted. God has given me many gifts and talents musically and otherwise, I plan to use them all for his glory. With the release of T.Y.T., CL is primed for center stage.
