Bio
When you hear Claire Cunningham sing, you’ll have a hard time pinning a lable on her. Alt-Country, Rock and Roll, Pop, Folk, Alternative? Claire sings and Claire writes; what would be more appropriate than the title “Singer-Songwriter?” When people discover Claire was born on August 10, 1983, many are surprised by the distinctly weathered, but pleasant, difference in her voice and lyrics. Claire’s writing has been inspired by the talents of Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco, Fiona Apple, Gillian Welch, Garrison Starr, and Steve Earle. She writes how it “was”, and sings like it still “is.” Claire has the ability to decode what so many have felt and transform it into a language that speaks universally. Stuck between San Antonio and Austin, Claire has spent the last 10 years in New Braunfels, TX. For most of her life, she has been surrounded by the strong and eclectic music scene this area has to offer. Opening and playing with artists such as South Austin Jug Band, Buster Jiggs, Rodger Wilko,Full Throtle, and Drew Kennedy,; she has shared the stage with many gifted musicians. Floore’s Country Store, Saengerhalle, Cementville,Tavern in the Gruene, River Road Ice House, Riley’s Tavern, Gus and Woodrow’s, and Old Wimberley Tavern have been exposed to Claire; now it’s your turn...
