Claire Mix, also known as The Mixer, has been writing and performing children's music for twenty years. She has been working in the classroom as an elementary school music teacher and choral director, and admits that much of her music is inspired by the children she teaches.Mixer often invites the children from her choirs to participate in special projects, and included several Mixer Kids in the production of her CD "Singing In a Hairbrush".

Mixer Kids are so popular that they have been invited to sing for many high profile events in and around Sacramento, including the first inauguration celebration for California State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mixer Kids have also sung at the Susan B. Komen "Race for the Cure" at Cal Expo in years past. In 2005 Mixer rode her Rascal mobility scooter from the Golden Gate Bridge to the California State Capitol to help raise awareness of Parkinsons.

For the past few years Claire Mix has been dealing with a progressive neurological disease related to Parkinson's. She recently acquired a mobility scooter which her students call The Mixer Mobile! It's not an unusual sight to see Mixer rolling to a show and giving a young Mixer Kid a ride on her lap to the stage. Mixer can still walk short distances and lives a very full life despite her new limitations. Her students view her no differently than before her body became noticeably symptomatic. It is a great lesson for any child; to see the human being before the chair, crutch, walker or cane.

Claire Mix is not only an accomplished musical composer, she is also a writer. She's written and illustrated children's books, completed eight (produced) stage plays, and several young adult novels. She is also a screenwriter. Her most current screenplay "The Girl with Hair Like the Sun", focuses on her Mother's memories working as a nurse's aid in Gila River Japanese American Internment Camp in 1943.
