The music industry can be a tough game. Finding success in that game is something few artists can claim. Never is this more prominent than in Canadas Hip Hop Industry. Halifax based artist Classified has defied the odds and has found success where others could only try. Through his own label, Halflife Records, Classified has dropped hit after hit, appealing to everyone from the casual to the most underground of fans. And after ten-plus years in the game, this critically acclaimed producer/mc is showing no signs of slowing down.
The list of accomplishments just keeps growing for this Juno nominated artist. Along with multiple East Coast Music awards, the video for Classifieds track No Mistakes from his Boy-Cott-In The Industry album won him a MuchMusic Video award for Best Rap Video in 2005. The release of his last album, Hitch Hikin Music, has seen the release of 4 singles and videos. The lead off single Find Out reached a peak position of number 17 on the MuchMusic nationwide video charts. The follow up single, All About U, featuring soon to be star singer/songwriter Chad Hatcher, reached #18 on the charts, received national radio exposure and critical praise for the songs uplifting & positive message. Hard to Be Hip Hop, the third single released is a soon to be Hip Hop classic featuring a dynamic video & Canadas own rap legend Maestro.
After completing a coast to coast national tour that spanned 41 tour stops, including every major city in the country, Classified released his new CD/DVD While You Were Sleeping on November 6th, 2007. The lead single Fall From Paradise perfectly captured the artists dedication, drive, & achievements throughout his career.
2008 has been a big year for Classified thus far. After completing a nationwide tour during January, February & March, Class has been doing shows alongside such legendary acts as Nas, & on July 19th, 2008 Classified performed at Z103's Summer Rush concert in Halifax along with acts such as Kardinal Offishall and Nelly. Classified was also selected to perform at Wakestock 2008 in Toronto, along with members from the infamous Wu Tang Clan.
Also, during the Fall of 2008, Classified has performed in Ottawa and will be performing other dates at Kitchenor, ON and Acadia University to name a few. 2008 also saw Classified featured on one of the world's top hip hop websites, allhiphop.com.
